OK, so this is my first field report and one I'm writing when I'm 7 or 8 pints down. sorry for mistakes. PLease read, I need help. If you can't be arsed to read a lengthy post, don't click in the first place right?!

Basically tonight me and a few friends were at a pub. There was me, my best mate: Fred, his friends James and Mike and 2 girls; Sophie (my target) and her best mate, Ellie who I've known my whole life.

Sophie had been pressuring me to organise this night fo a while and we finally got our act together.

So we were sitting in the pub. I feel I should give you some background so me and Sophie have never gotten off but we used to get the bus in year 10 (age 14-15) right through to year 12 (age 16-17) there always felt like there was something there. But in the 2007-2008 new year I told her I liked her through text and I never got a reply. We saw each other a little while after because we were in the same social group.

Looking back my approach was extremely AFC and I could only expect failure. Anyway, so I barely see her for 2 years while she's at college and I'm in 6th form. Tonight though I organised a night at the local pub with the people listed above.

During the course of the night I throw several Negs and Disqualifiers her way; for isntance I told her she 'Had her chance with me' in conversation and I make light of her eagerness to get involved in conversation. I also make mention of my ex GFs and recent Nights out for some DHV. So ultimately she starts throwing IOI's, or what I interpret as IOI's my way.

She asks me to finish my story about my ex and even hits me playfully when we collectively cut up her own story. A few weeks ago she told me she could 'have me any time she wanted' when I told her she missed her opportunity with me.

I escalated Kino by talking to her about he bracelets while holding her wrist and talking about them. As she had her leg up on a pub bench my hand ended up being close to her calve during this conversation. I stopped talking about her bracelets and continued the group conversation with my hand on her calve.

Basically from here on things went tits up. She turned to me and, in a laughing voice asked: 'Why is your hand on my leg?' Was this a shit test? I replied 'Oh Sorry.' Then, she spoke to Mike alot, not much happened. He text her, AFC 10 minutes after he left. So Ellie, Sophie, Fred and I decided to walk home as I live within 2 minutes of Sophie (Ellie was staying at her's) our route took us down an alley way. All Night I though Sophie had been sending IOIs but at some point during the alley way I was talking to Ellie and Sophie and Fred were suddeny nowhere to be seen. I shouted 'Fred?' and he and Sophie came out of the shadows; I asked him a out it and he said: 'She asked me if I had a girlfriend (which he does, Phoebe who is awesome) and I said "I do, what about it?" and supposedly she was flirting loads with him down the alleyway. Now Fred and Sophie once got off back in year 10 which fucked me off but I got over it so I know theres a tiny bit of history there.

As we approached Sophie's house she turned to me and said 'Maxy (My name is Max) don't I get a proper good bye?' before I gave her a half arsed hug. So basically what I want to know is:

What was going on? Is this all feminine mind games?

And if it is all mind games how do I play it? She can't just suddenly try and get with my best mate. I just feel very confused. After she displayed a bunch of IOIs she still trys it on with someone else. Is this huge push/pull from her or what?

Uhm...as for the rest - no fucking clue, but she's definitely in control. It sounds to me like she's shit testing you and (maybe) your friend. She may be attracted to both of you. I feel you need to find a way to take control because it seems to me that she's challenging you.

Max, I know how you feel with that one, From yr7 to yr11 there was this one girl who always gave me the IOI's and we used to flirt a lot but she always ended up getting with other boys.

1. Dont get too friendly with her otherwise you will have missed your chance. Once you reach a certain point, girls will play the "Friend" card which is bl*ody frustrating.

2. Throw her the Neg's but try and keep the playful element to a minimum. Theres only a few types of girls. Shy ones, Normal girls who you can figure out and manipulate and C*ck teases. If she is the last one then play her at her own game. The more you can Neg her while also giving the impression your making your distance, the more it will make her mind click as to if you really do want her. I wouldnt have touched her leg, as its such a tender place for a girl (inside her upper leg) you either have to be coming across as very gentle and caring or like you want her on all fours. For a better way to make contact and continue the flirting, i would say a nice cheeky slap on the bum works. Its something you can easily laugh off if she takes it the wrong way.

Yeah in hindsight the leg was an error but hey ho, with pints at £2 it felt rude getting just 1 at a time.

I agree that control really is the issue here, thanks for pointing that out both of you. So long as she's in the driving seat I'm fucked. Thanks again for your replies. They've given me things to think about.
