so i have this class with this girl whom after talking with i have alot in common with.
Our last exchange ended something like

(we were talking about phones being like tracking devices etc)


her - 'um do i have your number'
me - 'haha you want to track me too?'
her - 'haha.. *searches bag*
her - 'i'll get it from you in Class'
me - 'later'
her - 'bye ;)'

.......

i'm losing ground man

was this a loss of status or am i just bugging?

what can be done different?

You've still got it. You could have played up the cockyness a little bit and said something like "I don't give my phone numbers to strangers" or "Usually I have women beg before I give out my number" You can always say something next time when she asks.

She wants you, and she wants to get your phone number. Now make her chase you.
