I'd recomend trying some of the ones listed then. Certainly Axe(known as lynx her in the uk) has a distinctive powerful smell but I dont think thats a good thing, here its associated with teenage boys.

Cologne is relatively cheap imo, certainly worth you trying something a bit more subtle.

I use armani he at the moment and only a little, I think alot fo people make the mistake of putting too much on.

Does wearing womens really have that effect?
Yeah I've heard that several times too!

I think it does if you smell like other women that may sub-consicously show higher value to women.

Question... Is cologne a must? I've never purchased any before...

And is there a site I can get free samples from?
I think cologne is a must. You dont want to be hanging with a HB and have her get a wiff of your BO or speed stick. Instant deal breaker. If you want free samples you can just go to your local mall and spray a tester on your wrist and see how it smells throughout the day on you. Colognes will smell differently on different people so you'll just have to try a bunch of colognes on, not at the same time lol. You can also spray a different cologne on each wrist for the cologne opener.

Right now, I use:

Burberry (the self-titled one)
and Chrome by Azzaro

As soon as those run out I'm going to buy Love & Luck by Ed Hardy. I tried this on when I was in Pittsburgh saturday, it smells amazing.

Alright, so I've never worn cologne in my life, and I'm going to look into it very shortly. Hopefully I'll be able to man up and ask some girls which one they think smells better on me by trying some out on either arm in the mall...

I'd want something intoxicatingly sexy for the girls by night, and something subtle but intriguing for going out in the day...

I'll definitely be writing down some of the suggestions from this post to try out.

What is the average price range of a decent cologne?
Also, where on the body do guys typically wear it, and what works for full olfactory coverage (like I said, I've never worn cologne before, so it's fair n00b question).

I'll be sure to come back and post and comments and reactions, and when I get a feel for what works, I'll definitely share.

Vurt is amazing. I've had so many girls compliment on it. Only 1 spray tho, the stuff is strong and lasts a while. Don't over-do it!!

I use:

Reaction by kenneth cole
Curve

I may shop around for some new stuff, but I loves me some reaction. I got a compliment from a stripper on it once (and like a lot of other people) XD.

Yves St Laurent L'Homme phenomenal scent for both day and night. As far as where to apply spray wrists rub together and then rub on neck, one spray on chest and one spray down your back. <-------Straight out of GQ Magazine

I like to wear masculine classy scents. M7 is one of them, and so is Vetiver. Unfortunately only few women like them, but I'm too old to comply with women. I feel a man has to have his own taste.

I have a large assortment of colognes and I never know which one to wear. I tend to mix it up often but I decided I really need to stop doing that because women will learn to associate you with a scent over time. The other day one of my close girl friends mentioned that she was out with some friends and a man walked past her and he apparently had the same cologne I did and she thought of me.

Recently I've been wearing Jean Paul Gaultier and women absolutely love it. I feel it has a "warm" sensation to it. I know a girl who once dated a guy JUST because he wore Abercrombie & Fitch 'Fierce'. I must admit, it does smell really good.
