Mystery uses material most people would find very cheesy, but he has charisma. Most of his game is in his charisma, and I guess the cheesiness is actually endearing because he's a geek and enjoys being a geek. The most important thing about Mystery's game is the winging, "accomplishment intros", etc.
Basically if you are going to be an indirect guy, someone's gotta talk about you. That would be your friends. When the girls talk to them, they realize you're that awesome guy who doesn't want to brag. When they talk to you, you should -- and here is the key -- give them UNSATISFACTORY answers ... so that you do in fact get them curious and they will have to invest in order to find out more about you.
Ways to get girls to invest:
a) have her tell you a little bit more about her, her family, what's important to her, her ambitions and dreams
b) have her show you something, such as pictures on her camera
c) have her follow you somewhere or invite her to an activity with your friends
When you get a girl to invest, she expects the relationship to go further. If it doesn't, she'll get disappointed. It's a back and forth. Mystery touches on this a lot. Negs only work when you are "locked in". If you are not "locked in", you should draw people in by withholding information. For example:
"I don't know if you realize this, but..."
"Guess what..."
"This is going to make you want to ..."
"Does everyone understand what I mean when I say ..."
Notice that when you say these things, it makes everyone's ears perk up and hear what you are going to say next. These things are not negs. They make the whole group move in closer and listen to you. That's what Mystery does well. Adam Lyons does it really well, but I'm not sure if he realizes he's doing it. Another good one he uses a lot is:
"Imagine you are ..."
there he places you in a situation where he controls the shots, and yet you listen attentively. I am pretty sure he knows what he's doing THERE
