In my opinion, no - provided everything is legal and consensual. The real question lies with the maturity levels of the people involved. Maybe you feel uncomfortable dating a 17yo; maybe she feels uncomfortable dating 22yo. Both of you may have no problem with it. A girl at that age, though, you have to be careful she isn't immature/ditzy/wishy-washy/bad crazy.

I am dealing with the same issue, but you have a bit more of an age gap, I feel that more than about 2 years is too much unless youre older and they are 18 but my friends have been saying that is fine and that since im 18 now its okay to be with the 16 year old but when i turn 19 that it changes...

It all depends on point of view. If age of consent is 16 and you're over 18, then that is the limit!

That said, I think 22 and 17 is ok. Some people may think differently, but then again it's really not their business. Me being over 20, I would not hit on girls younger than 18, but this is personal preference.

Okay, granted I'm a little intoxicated right now. Let me share my last month with you.

I got picked up at the beginning of August (yes, I was on auto-pilot, spitting game as a cashier) by this girl who turned out to be 16 (I'm 22, but was intrigued by the fact that she had the balls to give me her number while I was rocking a beard). She initially told me she was 17; but, I found out at a small get together, that she had a week until she turned 17... FML I thought. Honestly though, when I mentioned age being the issue, I felt like an asshole because I remember being that age and being discriminated against (Also, when I was 16, I slept with a 26 year old chick). She said she was mature, so I thought, "What the hell!" and gave it a shot. Not smart... At first it was that she couldn't hang out because her parents didn't let her hang out with people they didn't know. Then it was that she didn't understand words and phrases used in basic conversation. Then it was that she wanted me to lie about my age in order to come to her birthday party.... Fuck all this... Long story short, I "broke up" with her (hadn't even f-closed this broad, hardly dating) the day before her 17th birthday. I felt real fucked up about it but at the same time... At least I didn't sleep with her or buy her beer when she asked!

Now, I'm dealing with this girl I picked up on the first day of class. I get her number, text her, and go to her gig at a bar downtown (we are both musicians) later that evening. She is a freshman (college), so I figure 18 or older right? Wrong! She is 17. She says she's turning 18 soon. I don't know when; but, because of the previous experience, I'm hesitant to continue. She is mature, but I feel like we just don't mesh well. I don't know if its that she was a home school kid and lacks social skills, if she is actually immature, or if its that she's just not that in to me. Bad fuckin' luck eh?

I've recently gotten a few other girls' numbers, so I'm not that worried about it.

My advice to you. If shes DTF, then go for it. If she wants a relationship, then run! Its a tough road to travel for the both of you. Seriously...I really wish I could erase the last month, but I cant. Whatever, new phone numbers await!

Personally I wouldn't ask people for this opinion. I think it all falls down on whether you truly like this girl or not. Part of the game is finding women that you can truly connect with and that are up to your expectations. If they aren't up to your expectations screw it, if they are ages shouldn't be an issue, there are many mentally developed girls out there, and personally I like women that are more mature than their peers.

The biggest problem in my understanding is that girls (under 18's) are generally less mentally developed and are still immature. You generally don't find that in girls that are 17 and going into college.

Its ok. She is of age, and chances are she's seen another man's dick before. However it will make going out difficult, if you live in England then you cant go out until she's 18, but if you live in America then you have to deal with this problem for several years.

personally, the lowest I would date is 18. But that's because i like to take my girls out to clubs, pubs and not just bouncy castles

So long is it's legal you're not doing anything wrong. If anyone tells you otherwise it's their own short-sighted mentallity so just take the girl on her merits.

Bare in mind that she may not be as emotionally developed at a younger age and her expectations should be managed as such. A bad experience whilst young can really mess her up for some time to come.

Yeah I don't know either, my friends were telling me that. Personally I have never dated a girl more than a year younger than I am, it has kinda weirded me out making me feel like a pedophile if I even consider anything sexual with a girl that young. 16 I hear is the age of consent in SC but still... I am still iffy about trying anything with a girl that age.
