I need to get sign ups for a certain charity I was wondering If you guys could help I know its not really related but theres not really anywhere else I could get this expertise.

Phase one: Setting the Frame

Thanks to the fantastic work that Cuk have done we(touch chest) have managed to reduce the death rate by a massive 12% in the last 10 years but as you can understand we(touch chest) still have an enormous amount of work to do to beat this, so you can see the situation is urgent can't you?

Phase 4: Build up

Fantastic!(smile) To continue the great work we(touch chest) are doing Cuk spends £1 million per day and is almost entirely funded by the public(touch chest) I dont suppose you have a spare million in your basement?

Well thats ok neither do your neighbours! However we have had a fantastic response from your neighbours who are chipping in really small amounts such as pint of beer, sandwich, train ticket, a big mac (count these up on your fingers totally deadpan and serious) from their weekly shopping budget.

i have exactly the same job as you and I just started it myself.

thankfully, there is no trial period, and I can develop at a nice and relaxed pace

Here's my pitch, which I quickly put together a few days ago:

Me: Hello, I'm David, a Representative of X, Have you had a nice afternoon?
Him: Yes/No
Me: First Impressions tell me that you're a very friendly and charitable person. (labeling technique)
Me: What do you know about the charity?
Him: blah, blah, blah
Me: Many of your neighbors have appreciated the good work that the charity has done for the community and have been very eager to give back. I would like to invite you to join the countless other people in the community who have signed up to our lottery service. (this technique incorporates reciprocity and social proof)|

This is basically my pitch so far which I have been trying on people, but I intend to add to it in the coming days and weeks as I develop a better intuition and understanding of my audience.

Well, a lot of people do this by signing up to our lottery service. Most people like yourself like to pay weekly, but you can choose to pay quarterly, six-monthly or annually for your own convenience. Which way would suit you best? (presupposition)

Get them into a good emotional state, so that their good feelings are filling their mind and displacing the critical faculties of their brain, so that they're responding emotionally rather than logically.

You can use a yes ladder at the beginning of the pitch to achieve an agreeable frame:

Have you had a nice day? - yes
Are you looking forward to the weekend - yes
is this area as nice as it seems - yes
will you be willing to listen to me - yes
