Me and some friends were hanging in the park when some girls were walking by. I saw my chance and walk towards them and begined to talk to them with some opener from "the game" and in somehow I found out that she was really good chess player. We talked for about five minutes beause her friends and her needed because they had a bus to catch, so I said quickly that I wanted to play chess with her sometime and said that she should type in her number on my cellphone.

She typed in her phone nummber on the phone. But what should I say to her when I call ? This happened yesterday, first of august and I think I will call her tomorrow or the day after tomorrow what do you guys think ?


My questions are

1. When should I call her ?
2. What should I say to her when I call her ? I might add that we have a library where they hade chess board so we won't be at someones house cuz I think that ain't a good ide at the first date maybe ?

if you can find like a starbucks or something with a chess board, you could go there and get some drinks and chill and play chess. i think it's a good idea to stack a couple locations so you do more than just play chess, you can go get lunch or something as well maybe.

as for when to call her, i'll go with the cliché 3 days. that's what i'm using as my default - if i don't have a reason to call sooner or later, it's easy enough to just use that rule (there's so much debate about this topic, it can make your head spin ).

Make sure you have a plan for what to say if you suck or if she sucks. Particularly if you suck at chess you can look like a tool if you don't handle it right, not sure exactly how to handle it right though.

It's important that you at the very least DO call her. Why pass up a lead?

What was her confidence level? If it seemed low you can really just ask her out straight up. If it seemed high you might want to call her just to chat before you call to ask her out, and you might want to say you're going to go do something (watch a chess tournament?) and ask if she wants to tag along.

If you want to do a chess follow-up, I would get a portable game and find somewhere nice to have the game. Top of a building... lake side...

How about this? When you meet her, tell her you two will play a special kind of chess. Instead of a clock, you have to aswer a question from your oponent before making your move. This will bring you in confort while doing your chess thing.

I like it, I have to try the chess game sometime, it sounds like fun.
