hi Guys,

I work for a s/w firm. This HB5 has a fiancee but I am friendly with her. Once I was crossing her on my way to restroom, I told her that I noticed something. She said "What?". I said she has a good dressing sense but I negged her that when she wears skirts, she does not look good. She just smiled and said I notice a lot. Next day was her B'day. But I was having a rough day. So, I had no mood of going out with her and friend for b'day. She didn't know that I knew about her b'day. She said hi to me inside the office. I just smiled and said hi. But I didn't speak much. That was friday. Next Monday, I saw her talking to head HR who is her relative. Head HR is also CEO's relative, so she can fire anybody she wants. I could see her saying something and pointing at me. Also, on her b'day, I could see that she was upset at something may be as i didn't give her any attention. Tuesday, motherfuckers fired me saying I have performance issues. Since, it was a at-will employment, I could not do anything. Though, I am not saying that it can be the only reason. I was unlucky i know, there were some other reasons too. I am sure. But I am good worker. But that bitch fucked me. What goes around, comes around. I am sure she will get her own medicine in future. Guys, so beware of office game. YOU NEVER KNOW. Any advice in getting a job again.

So she supposedly got you fired for not telling her "happy birthday" and for some negs about her dress?

or you could not blame your failings on other take responsibility for your poor performance and inability to use the techniques well. Actually .... you are probably righty, you will probably learn more by blaming someone else for your problems. Good luck man :)

In short don't mix work and play

Hi Jaybot,

You are right, I was blaming others for my situation. I FU real bad, I know. I think my performance was good but I didn't play the corporate world politics well. I am not saying that I was perfect at my job but I was better than most of my coworkers. Next day my boss got fired. So, obviously my company is not doing well and I was under the radar, can be a reason. I always try to improve myself, so found out a site which gives good advice to hold onto current job in this economy. I hope this helps everyone in the community -
1. Find out how good you are by getting feedback from your coworker, boss, vendor, client.
2. Be as much a profit source as possible
3. Be indispensable
4. Make your boss look good
5. Hitch yourself to a star
6. Becoming beloved.
I took the points from Kiplinger.com. I am sure if someone follows all the points, his job will be safe in this economy. Wish me luck. :(

Work is not a place to experiment with stuff like this, if you're an employee you can get knocked off if someone doesn't like what you're doing, and if you're the boss u can get fined for harassment if there's any suspicion at all. Its no different working at the grocery, post officve, google or anywhere.

Ambiguous casual flirting is the way to go bro. It has to be ambiguous enough that it wouldn't be interpreted as harassment or offend the other person. Work is a place I practice how to flirt subtly; I only hooked up with 2 ppl at work ever but I casually mess with girls there a lot, without even knwing it, and now I'm better at it.

It's Ookay to game at work, as long as you know what you doing.
Not only that but keeping things on the DL; work is a great place to practice i highly recommend it.

I agree with the work environment being a 'no-play' zone. You never know what you are dealing with.

I'm a consultant and work several places at a time and I see this kind of stuff happening all the time and it never ends up with a happy story. 99% of the time, the guys get the boot while the girls chuckle at victory (and I have seen it where its the GIRL who is playing and not the guys). Almost a no win situation no matter what.

However, it doesn't hurt to be the guy every girls wants to have at their parties, you never know what kind of friends your work ladies have. Just don't cross barriers with the 'zero tolerance sexual harassment policy' at work. So be careful what you say and do. No touching, comments on their cloths/hair/nails/perfume, remarks that can be mis-interpreted.

HOWEVER, all this assumes you want to stay working there. If you know you are about to leave, like in a month or so, for greener pastures, then go for it.

But yea, negging a 5 over a job?

Best,

J-Dub
