Back when I started using OK Cupid a few other friends made profiles as well. In the beginning I had a real "traditional" nice guy profile and, predictably, had no success. Meanwhile my friend filled in almost nothing and it was all bullshit anyway and he got lots of messages.
When I got back onto OKC recently I decided to try something like that. Almost all of my sections are just something stupid and funny I thought of to throw in there. It leaves a lot a mystery about me (so it can come up in conversation), while at the same time showing off my sense of humor and avoiding any appearance of tryhard. I still used the "you should message me if..." to show that I've got standards and whatnot, however. I think that's still important.
To see what I mean you can check out my profile:

On PlentyOfFish, however, this isn't really as doable because it doesn't separate your profile into small sections where you can make dumb little jokes. The only place I was able to fit something like this in was the "First date ideas" section where I wrote "We'd sneak aboard the space shuttle and carve ice statues. That way if the real crew found us they'd know we were cool and let us stay on board. I've always wanted to kiss on the moon" and in my headline where I put a twist on JSmooth's (I think it was him?) "I only date supermodels" and instead went with "I only date astronauts."
Thoughts on this approach over the traditional methodology?
