contrary to popular belief you can't actually train yourself to drink more. I drink lots though adn after a while you learn to carry yourself better, also sleep and a good meal before you go out help loads.

But yar there are so many damn variables it is barely worth thinking about I have had nights where I have drunk 6 litres of cider, a bottle of wine and a bottle spirits and been fine another night I drank 35cl of vodka and passed out in the street completely hammered.

You forgot to mention that little pill you used the vodka to take....

Anyways, how to hold your drink better is down to a few things. The key thing to note is your ability to drink more will not come from your body improving its ability to digest alcohol but rather how you can control the blood alcohol level. You cannot improve your organs to get rid of the alcohol faster - its genetically hard wired.

1) eat before you go out. This reduces the speed the drink passes through your stomach. If you don't eat, the drink can quickly pass through your stomach in a large volume.
2) Avoid fizzy drinks (champagne etc). I dont know the exact science of why, but it causes you to absorb alcohol faster.
3) Avoid mixing drinks. It doesn't stop you getting so drunk but does help prevent you from hurling.
4) Your body can get rid of about 1 UK unit of alcohol per hour (on average). Therefore, if you drink 1 unit an hour, your blood level will not rise much above 2-3 units (on average). However, if you drink 5 units an hour, your blood alcohol level will increase by 4 units an hour. You do the math.
5) I cannot stress this enough - drink some damn water! As a general rule when I go out I will drink 1 glass of water per 3 units of alcohol I drink (2 beers roughly). Alcohol dehydrates you massively. The water helps prevent this.
6) Remember that when you finish a drink, over the next 15-20mins you will start to feel more drunk - this means if you start your next beer immediately when you are just on the edge of being past it, you will go well over the point of passing out.
7) Drink lower alcohol % drinks. If you drink the same amount of units of alcohol from vodka and beer, the vodka will get your more drunk. Refer to point 1 and 4 for the reason why.

Hope some of that helps - also to prevent a hangover take paracetamol and a pint of water right before bed (please not this is at your own risk - it is advised you do not take paracetamol with alcohol).

good advice and yup when you start to feel like you are too pissed I usually sit and chill for 20 minutes or so with a glass of water or something.

The pint of water before bed is essential as well, buy a pitcher or jug and fill it with water and keep it near your bed, or get into the habit or having a bottle or two of water near your bed. Saves so much bullshit the day after.

Also on the subject of hangovers pineapple is the best cure IMO I can't remember how I came to this conclusion but there was an ass shat load of biology and chemistry behind it .... was too drunk to remember it but hey.

Don't pay attention to any of that peer pressure that encourages you to raise your tolerance by "training yourself" and whatnot. Just drink responsibly unless you want to end up like me and have that kinda shit fuck up your sleeping schedule and give you problems with school.

Thanks a lot you guys, taking all of it into account. Especially the sleeping schedule thing. I did some research that if you take a table spoon of olive oil or butter that it covers your stomach and you wont absorb as much alcohol or something. Iono, but thanks alot you guys. That list of tips was very useful too. I notice I never eat anything before drinking, i'll usually spend the whole day with just breakfast if i go out to drink. Cuz it's either a BBQ or a party and theres food there lol. Alright thanks a lot you guys. - Redkid
