Went to get my haircut today on a walk-in. Chantelle, who was a beauty school student, was assigned to cut my hair HB8.5.

The problem with this situation was to compeltely avoid being every other guy who likely hits on her at her job. Initially, I was in the chair - out of stuff to say - so I chose the AFC route.

Me>>So Chantelle, where'd you get your necklace?
Chantelle>>I got it at Saks. Along with the matching earrings, braclets.

realizing that I was in AFC territory I followed with a neg

Me>>It looks really...heavy...I can't believe you could wear earrings too - you've already got another 3 in there.
Chantelle>>Oh you're totally right - but I only ever wear button earrings anyways.

The conversation is on the verge of dying. I was NOT careful to use a neg that I could change into teasing. So I followed with another neg:

Me>>You've got a quirky valley accent. I used to have one until I moved away.
Her>>Yeah - people call me on it when I go to Toronto.

RIGHT here I realize she's going to fish for compliments. She's waiting for me to ask her why she's in Toronto. This is my favourite (please see my other post on pushing negs)

Me>>Why are you in Toronto Chantelle?
Her>>Oh...I'm down there to model.
Me>>Traffic's bad there. It takes a long time to get around. (Ignoring her comment).
Me>>It's a tough business too, Chantelle. But you seem to be doing well here - I talked to your boss and she said you were doing great...but she might have been hitting on me.

The neg has worked, and she is starting to qualify herself:

Her>>I'm only here for a bit. What's do YOU do? What's your story? (IOI)
Me>>Blah blah blah (I'm a professional - which she found shocking. I wear business-like clothes with bracelets, rings, hennah tattoos).

From here, I chose something along the lines of the Montell Williams in the game - forcing her to into a web of logic that she cannot mend.

her>>How do you want the back done?
me>>However you'd find it sexy.
...
me>>Does it look sexy?
her>>sure does.
me>>so can you tell a person by their hair?
her>>yes.
me>>(looking right in her eyes) So what about me
(NO ONE can not compliment you in this state)
her>>I'd say you're pretty damn good.
me>>At everything (matter of factly)...

(Phase shift)

me>>So you've made my hair sexy and we've established I'm good at everything.
her>>I guess so!
me>>Do you have your tongue pierced Chantelle?
her>>*sticks her tongue out
me>>and I bet your belly-button and other places too.
her>>*blushing smile
me>>Listen, I'd love to discuss why you regret those piercings. Here's my number.

She called on her break.

Lessons:
1. Don't give a neg with nowhere to go
2. Don't be typical if you're in a position where small chat is the norm
3. Don't do what I did and be so forward with the tongue ring comment.
It makes her feel like a slut - which no one appreciates. I should have
asked "any other interesting piercings or tattoos." if she DIDN'T have
her tongue pierced -things wouldn't have worked. FLIRT, but never
make bold suppositions.

Whenever I go to see a stylist or hairdresser if you wanna call em that. I just act normal. Most of them I talk to never have rapport building conversations with any guys. Any stylist I talk to says that I am the most interesting guy they have met at there job since most guys never really talk and build conversations when they are getting there hair cut. All my stylists love me and if they are new they always remember my name when I come in the next time. Also sometimes its good to be BOLD and hold onto that cockiness. You gotta make em wonder if you are serious or joking about the statement.
