I can kind of see where I fucked up, when I said "So I see you love to surf too, yet another great thing we have in common, I bet together we'd make great surf partners!". From here on I turned the attraction phase to friend phase. But I need another opinion on where I went wrong. What would you guys have done?

I find that hard to believe, but on to your online game.
There is really no exact point to where you messed up as you messed up overall. Your main problem was that you put her in a friend mindset with the bro/sis thing. And so you only build comfort and nothing else. And you ask for the number way to soon with this girl.

I've had 0% turn down rate using this method because I doesn't require conversation. Conversations are just excuses to stall for the number. Instead of ASKING for the number, TELL her to put it in cause after the girl has given IOIs shes pretty much said yes so get to the point.

Next time you are In-Field follow these steps. (I wrote this assuming like me, you've had no problems getting IOIs with openers; but If you've IODed, then get help with your approach and opening otherwise this wont work)

Opener: "Excuse me, Hi, I just thought you were really cute and wanted to come and say Hi" (Do it with a smile) Then ask her name.
If she gives you IOIs no need to transition.
Close: Give false time constraint, hand her your phone, and tell her to put her number in

Conversations should be left after you've acquired contact details or on a date.

Try this and I guarantee you'll see a difference.

If I did what I do In-Field Online, I would be as successful but you can't HAND HER YOUR PHONE on the internet.

I HAVE HAD in-field rejections using other methods at times because it gets boring using the same thing over and over and kills the name of a Pick Up ARTIST, but I have never left without the number lets put it that way. I always rebuttal by making a deal to play a game for her number that I will win and surprisingly its never failed. Either I'm too lucky or really persistent.

All in all I'm a rookie at computer game which is why I am here in the first place looking to learn so instead of only CRITICIZING my game this time, answer my question... What would YOU HAVE DONE?

Did see the second question as I only skimmed your post when I answered it. I never ever use a bro/sis routine of any kind as it only provides comfort. I instead treat the conversation as if I am actually there talking to her in person. I know there are obvious differences between online game and real world game. But there are similarities between them as well.
