Field Report
Location: The World’s End, Camden Town

Mike’s newly single so we agree to rent a hotel room in Camden and hit some serious rock clubs to reintroduce and remind him that being single isn’t scary or depressing. At the bar I’ve just started opening all people around me as practice sets and get talking to a French guy there without friends, Fernando. While chatting to him and Mike I spy a 2 set standing by a pillar one’s an HB8.5 and the other is a Warhog. I get mike and Fernando into a conversation quickly and then leave them to go and open the set. Worst case scenario is I’ve popped this evening’s cherry and can really start to open sets for the rest of the evening.
Approach from 11 o’clock talk over my shoulder, lean away, with clear, slow, smiling intonation and remember to body rock.

4. ESP routine to WH while teasing the target to lock-in against the pillar.

They’re sisters from Czech and the HB8.5 is visiting the WH, who lives and works in London. The target speaks almost no English. I used a lock-in prop (my sunglasses) to keep the target with me while I DHVed WH1. A few minutes later, I merge them with the home set and make introductions. All going well I’m testing for compliance by taking the HB’s glass of wine from her and giving her kino soon I’m receiving IOIs and tried to isolate. Unfortunately my ADHD kicks in with new people arriving (3 girls – HB7, HB6, and WH2), I immediately kiss on the cheek one, spin the other and grab the third to dip her in a dance move. That’s my introduction – just try and forget me now!
I try to up my social value by being scarce, flirting with the new girls and smoking cigarettes outside. I come back in and she’s chatting to Fernando. No worries I steal the conversation and he ejects. I run a photo routine on her (‘Let’s take 3 photos of us”) and try to tag a 4th picture of us making out. *Klaxons Go Off* Rejected. Fuck! What happened! I neg and immediately start rebuilding social proof with other women in the group.
Eventually Mike and I have the whole group dancing and singing in the bar before we decide we’re going to bounce to Electric Ballroom. The group’s taking to slow to finish their drinks so Mike and I declare that we’re going anyway and Hi 5 the guys while getting the girls to ‘kiss good-bye’ us. I neg the Czech girls as I leave.
At Electric Ballroom I open a girl Mike fancies to facilitate things for him. She’s a 7 rock chick and exactly Mike’s type. Ideal, cos I want him to be happy and not thinking about the last girl. Eventually the others catch up. HB8.5 is wasted but flirty and…. wtf? Fernando’s a little too much next to her. The penny drops that he’s trying to steal my target after I saved him from a night of boredom AND brought women to hang out with. What a cunt! Still my ADHD fucks me because I spend too much time trying to build social proof and not anytime trying to isolate or qualify – she’s even poked me to get me to dance with her and we grinde a little. I’m not able to escalate and instead talk to the other women. I see HB8.5 walk off in the corner of my eye and Fernando follows.
Long story short: both WHs end up trying to sell themselves to me with WH1 even saying “I’m so happy to be single, I just want to unwinde and fuck around…” (Two years ago I would have been like “Hell yes! Sex!” but things are different and I think “Not with me you’re not”). Fernando leaves with HB8.5, WH1 takes home Dan, a hyperactive Australian I tagged onto the group to try and distract her, Mike gets the Rock Chick HB7’s number, and we leave the club at 3.30am exhausted, happy (Mike) and pissed off (me). He turns to me as we head to the hotel after buying food "That was amazing, man! I had an awesome time! Is this what every night is like for you?!" I was flattered but it annoyed me that upon some reflection I could possibly say "Yes, unfortunately this night is exactly what a lot of nights end up like..."
Deconstruction
I’ve done my job, Mike’s keen to hang out again and speak to randoms, my AA is a little less threatening, I’m attracting quality as well as no quality women, and I’m successfully backwards merging groups. the sticking point was moving into A3 properly and K closing. The more I think about it though, this sticking point, especially where I do a huge amount of work and another guy steals the target from under me, has been a regular occurrence. So I've taken an analytical view point and broke down the reasons and the solutions based on the rules of the game.
Learning Points
1. I had merged the two set to allow me to isolate, but I didn’t actually isolate once I’d merged.
2. I’m too easily swayed by demonstrating social proof. I had opened the girls, I had merged them and I had shown higher value, there was NO reason to run off and continue to do so. All I was doing by then was being unavailable and leaving an alternative male to take my place and reap the rewards of my hard work.
3. Get into A3 once you’ve gotten 3 strong IOI’s.
4. Don’t leave a target alone once you’ve gone past A2 and don’t have a solid wingman to occupy the target. IE if another potentially threatening male is in the set you’ve merged with keep an eye on his intentions and be prepared to disarm him.
