so, I went out sunday and today in public places looking to say hello to women. I have my body language good and I'm wearing a smile. Thing is, everytime I go to make eyecontact with a passing lady, they look away- either down, to the other side, or up and to the side. should I still be saying hello to these women or let it go?

If they look away they are either not interested or embarrassed. I'd say its more likely to be the 1st SPAM. But at this stage I wouldn't worry too much about letting some go, just chat to everyone at this point old young etc etc just to get you used to vibing with people :)

Are you trying this is an Asian community or something? Go to white places. Asians don't socialize.

And yes. Say hi anyway, but you'll have to say it stronger and a tiny bit more assertively to catch their attention.

Jaybot- I have been trying women around my age (I'm 31, and I've been trying those that look 25-35). Both days, I haven't had one woman willing to make eye contact with me. If we're walking towards eachother, I look over to them when we are about 3 feet apart, thats when they look down or off. Maybe I'm broadcasting my intent too much or something. I can eye contact older, I've done it before. I don't know if I really should be trying younger that 25.

Chief- I am in a white area when I've been doing this. I walked around for 2 hours on Sunday and an hour on Monday. After not being able to even get eye contact I just got depressed and went home.

don't worry about t dude, hit some shops and chat to people in there or actually stop the person rather tha giving passing his.
Walk kinda towards but not directly (intimidating) and then when you are near them open you arms and say "excuse me guys" then ask them something etc. The hing to remember is someone will frequently ask them hows it going or something so they will have built in responses, usually like "yeah good you?" then it will begin to end before it has begun.

Walk up to them and say something like "Hey guys this is a weird question but do you know where I could get a pink cowboy hat?" this has so many avenues of conversation you can go down.

This is exactly what's happening to me. I think it is just human nature to do that. My interactions with other women, hired game and women in static settings and so on, yield a reasonable amount of IOI's, so it is not a reaction to my appearance. I really doubt it is in your case either.

I'm not sure what Jaybot means by "not interested". Surely most women are not going to be interested in you till you've actually generated attraction with them, unless you are some Godlike Adonis, and probably not even then. I thought that was standard PUA theory. Could you clarify Jaybot?

My take on the whole newbie mission was that you just say "hi" to twenty women and don't really give a crap whether they respond or not. The whole point is just to kill approach anxiety. If not, then I'd appreciate being set straight.

I think the aim of this exercise is not so much learning to provoke a positive respond of the woman, but more that you learn to be spontaneous whatever the respond will be. That even a negative respond (for example: the look as if you are crazy) will not bother you. Please correct me if I 'm wrong.

As my own experience women do respond for about 20% with a 'hi' back, 30% just (pleasantly) surprised, 30% unpleasantly surprised (the 'you are crazy look') and 20% doesn't respond at all.

Should we call this the failed-newbie mission thread?

I went for the mission today, and I never thought it would be that challenging. I basically said "hi" to only 3 girls today. Two of which didn't reply, or couldn't hear me. Damn whats wrong with me?

It feels like its unexpecting or random to abrupt a hello to someone whos in their heads wondering whats nice to buy from the stores of the mall. Most of them walking by don't even look at me. Hey I guess I'm still at the bottom of the line where I have no experience.

By the time it was almost 2 hours, I persisted to continue 'walking around only' and said a hello to 2 fine ladies around a bench and started an actual conversation about an event going on at the mall. Unexpectedly made them laugh and it was natural. No introduction and no closure, but I only learned that conversing with a group seems easier than one person.

Newbie mission failed

It took me four attempts to just start doing it. Each time I said Hi to more and more women, and got more confident as I was going. by the fourth time I said hi to every woman over 18 and even got some to say hello back. Once I did it, I thought I was being pretty silly about it the first three times I tried it. Keep going with it.
