Well I am quitting right now and I am using a NLP technique. I look at a short movie in my mind of me at a bar talking to a hot girl and then I pull out a smoke and she walks away from me. The other night this did happen to me a 10 started to talk to me and then I pulled out a smoke and she said EWWW. Then she lost interest. I did not even open to her she opened to me but smoking turned her off.

So every time you want to smoke just picture a girl that is a 10 that rejects you just because you smoke.

Think about it if you don't smoke non smokers will like you and smokers will still like you and this will double your options.

I hear spinach has nutrients there that suppress nicotine addiction. Might want to do more research on that. Beyond that, I think the best way to get rid of an addiction is becoming "aware" and just "observing" a craving when it rears its ugly head in one's body. You know, taking a "hmmm... there's the craving again. That's interesting. I will leave it until it dies off on its own like everything else". Cravings are emotions that have a life-cycle of their own. Just observe when they come up.

I have smoked for 8 years... since I was 14. Quit smoking about a year ago - and it wasn't as hard as I thought it would be.

I realized that I smoked because it was a routine/pattern;
- Have a cup of coffee? Need a smoke with that...
- Drinking with my "smoker" friends? - gotta light up
- Watching some Youtube videos? Need a smoke...

Last year I was moving to a new flat, so I told myself I will not smoke there. For a while I stopped hanging out too much with some of my good friends, the ones that smoke... I gave up coffee as well and I tried to stop doing things/going places where I would be tempted to light up the most.

So once you change your daily routine and try to eliminate those moments when you need a cigarette - it will make it much easier. A. Carr's book also a good read.
I would also put the $10 a day into a new savings account - the money I would otherwise spend on cigarettes, was I surprised to find $3,000 in less then a year in that account!!!

... oh and don't forget that PHYSICAL addiction to nicotine only lasts for 3-4 days, once you passed that and you still think you NEED to smoke, it's all in your head.

Best of luck,

Alex

Has anyone thought to stop smoking through hypnosis ? I mean if you can get over approach anxiety and other bad habits, can you also get over smoking?

I mean I am really addicted to these things, I smoke for about 5 years now and got to a point where I smoke about one and a half pack per day ... so quitting is not so easy for me ... i can barely go 2 hours without seriously craving for a ciggarette ... sometimes I stand up in the middle of a movie just to go smoke ... that's if I'm at home .. not at a cinema :D ... any thoughts on this ?

hmmm best way i found to quit smoking is to take up a sport such as soccer or boxing and take it seriously too. not only will that make u see how fucked up your lungs are but also trains your willpower.

Quitting is for quitters.

Just kidding, I quit for five months. Honestly, the best way is to have someone hold you accountable, a close friend, girlfriend, mom/dad, family.

However, the best way to quit is to WANT to quit. If that cigarette is worth that HB10, then you won't quit. To me, the cigarette is. In my opinion, getting girls is a terrible reason to quit. For every 2 girls that don't like it there's one that does.

I have smoked off and on for 7 years. I stopped (notice I did not say quit) about 5 times. I started to notice a pattern in myself. Its all mental. Yes, there is a deffinate physical addiction, but it is more mental. Before I was ready to put them down, I mentally prepared myself for 3 or 4 weeks before. Everytime I would smoke, I would start thinking about how hard it is to breath. How much I cough in the morning. How winded I get when I have sex. I started to convince myself that everytime I smoke a ciggarette, I got sick. It actually started to make me physically ill and I just put them down after 3 or 4 weeks of telling myself that I don't like them anymore. I hope it helps you.

Get some hynosis tapes for better health, and go to town amigos. Why not add a Health affirmation to your daily routine. I did one for acne and my skin is vibrant.

PS. Pour alittle Olive oil and salt on your hands and gently rub your face, the ladies will come out of no where asking you how your skin stays to pleasantly lively. =P
