Yeah i know, i agree with you. they will know that after 5 min . but you try to not look 2 needed, and also to make the girl comfortable with you , because your not trying to hit on her.
Women identify a lot with the opinion opener , just watch a normal girl talk they tell a story and the other girls just give their opinion. and then once again new story more opinions - a girl talk.

opinions work amazingggg. me and my friend used this at a club one night when we were both just getting into and practicing pick up
we would get in proximity of generally a 2 or 3 set and start off in the middle of our fake conversation abotu pets. then after a minute or so of going back and forth we would just tap a girls shoulder or something and say "hey quick question. Dog or saltwater fishtank."
and they would usually respond with either "dog", "saltwater fishtank", or " well it depends on (blah blah)," and they would usually ask us a question.... it owrked incredibly well at opening every set we encountered that night, and i think we used that while walking in the mall too. but you have to have a wing with you so if you randomly jump halfway into a conversation you werent in before, he will understand what your objective is( assuming youve noticed a female target in proximity)

sry to sound dumb after all these complex things but I just say hi and let her start up the conversation ... or if she just smiles hi back and leaves i wander off and start it myself the second time I see her. Because if her reaction to "hi" isnt good you know shes pretty unfreindly and not worth time anyway right? I mean you can't hide the fact that your hitting on her unless you always talk to random strangers, so why be subtle?
