How would you use your MMA skills to your advantage to attract girls? I don't wanna brag, especially since I've only been training for a month. Any ideas? By the way, I don't and will not wear Affliction shirts, just because I've been training for a month it doesn't make me a fighter, but still, I do it 5 times a week.

Well Man, I been in MMA for 4 years and sometimes when women ask you what you are doing or did over the past few days, you let them know you are into your training. Let them know that your training first then maybe some time with her could be squeezed in.

I slide in hints. when they ask what you did today or yesterday i reply with "practice". They Usually ask "practice for what" ....that's when you Explain. Nice to see fellow MMA athletes here.

If you are passionate about training--talk about your *passion*.

Let your passion for training be an expression of *your passion for life and self-mastery*. Segue that into what the girl's passionate about, find common ground...this can lead you into deeper, more personal conversations, and deep rapport...obviously, you want to do this at the right time, in the right context, with strong intent.

Good luck! :)

Haha yes exactly bro. That's what I do with girls. I make them work themselves in around my training schedule.

Good advice there from Sergio. Another thing you could do is wear MMA clothing like all the posers out there who don't train. You've been training for a whole month.... you're practically a black belt. Go buy a bunch of tapout shit.

Or hey, better yet, bring her to class and let her watch you get worked over.

I dunno. I've been training way before this MMA boom, and I can't think of a way to fit it into a conversation (I used to try) without it feeling like I'm cheapening what I've worked so hard for. Now I don't even bring it up until after I've already gotten into their pants.

I dunno, I'm just not comfortable with it. I really feel like it cheapens my training, which I take seriously. Plus, unless she knows you, it's not like she's going to believe it anyways because for all she knows, I've only been training for a month or some shit.

Best wishes on your training though man. Seriously. 5x a week can be rough. That's definitely a real good start though.

I've been doing muai thai for a while now and will soon add BJJ to my training, but the situation is similar.
I don't tell women I train or I 'box' as a hobby, it's portrayed as bragging to a high value girl. Even if I can't hang out I say 'I'm working out', and pretty much hide it from them instead.

Once they find out from my friends or from seeing my gloves and wraps hanging around, its a nice surprise for them. The ideal situation would be to have them find out about it by seeing an overhand right to the button knockout or a properly administered rear naked choke :P. I am a pacifist and never get physical, although I did referee a backyard fist fight last week.

UFC 100 predictions: Mir, GSP, Bisping.

I do mostly muay thai, but I've been doing it for 4 years.

Basically, I feel that if you look like you're in MMA shape or Muay Thai shape, girls will notice it. If you try to play off that you're a fighter when you're not, anybody can see right through it.

I like what Sergio said. "What did you do over the weekend?" "Oh, nothing much. I placed 2nd in a National tournament." "OMG, reallly??"
"So what have you been doing this summer?" "Eh, not much, getting beat up alot... ALOT! I got a fight coming up."

It's juvenille of me to do so, but when I see girls next to me at my college computer lab, I'll pull up my videos on youtube, and say, "Hey wanna see something cool? THAT'S ME!"

But yeah, you don't want to be a wannabe with tapout this and tapout that. I think you can only use it to your advantage if you're passionate.

Just to get off topic for a quick second I'm 18 and really want to start muay thai or mma. I did wrestling in high school and it was one of the best things I've done.
I was curious if I'm too old to start and what kind of toll it takes on your body.

Too contribute to the topic when I was in wrestling, I wouldn't tell girls, they'd find out for themselves. I wouldn't bring it up cause I already looked fit and that was enough.

A lot of girls used to love it when I did Muay Thai as it was something different and most girls would be curious as to what it was. Also they felt protected when around me as they knew that I knew how to handle myself.

MMA would help develop your ground and pound game hahahaha

First of all let me say that any kind of martial arts is great for anyone, not just in a physical sense, but mental also. I used a very violent child, getting in fights all of the time and nearly being thrown out of school. But when I started kickboxing, it really humbled me as a person, and made me realze that yes even though I can beat this dude's ass at the drop of a dime I will keep that to myself and not fight other then to protect myself or people close to me/ helpless.

Now to answer your question, you are by no means too old. I have been out of the game for 5 years because of where I was in the marine corps, but now I am going to be starting again in about 2 weeks at the age of 23. It is only as hard as you make it, but being a wrestler you know that the harder you work the greater the reward. When I first started to train seriously I was 15 and in horrid shape, within a year I had lost 50lb's and about 6 months later won a mens national tournement.

Just keep your head up and push as hard as you can, before you know it you will see great results in overall fitness and your skills in fighting.

I find most girls are really interested in martial arts. I wouldn't hide the fact from them its give you extra points in being fit, commited/stable and strong/protective.

I've used it once as as kino where I showed a thumb lock into an armbar. Then I had a target do it to me. Think of it like the potting scene in ghost.

It's never too late to start
Alot of the amateurs I know are mid-20s, some even in early 30's. SHit, I know of a good fighter out in NJ that's over 40!

At 18, it won't take a toll on your body, especially if you have a wrestling background - you're used to hard training. In my opinion, the first few months won't be as hard as Wrestling practices. But my fight practices are INTENSE.
