I have been in the game for a couple of years now, and it has opened the door for me to have some fantastic experiences. But working in the UK I find that I have to adapt a lot of the material tested in the US, so I thought it would be good to hear from some other guys in the UK - chat about the differences of gaming British HBs. - I don't want this thread to turn into a moan-fest though. Game can work anywhere, but it would be interesting to see what differences you guys have noticed between US advice and how it works in the clubs of the UK.

The main difference I have found is that in the UK we are used to a far more subtle approach, whereas in the US girls are used to a much more direct approach. I think this can make running game difficult but can also be used to our advantage. We just have to be very aware of the type of girl we are talking to. Girls who are used to going out and getting pissed then hooking up might need a different approach to those who don't? etc.

Anyway, what have you guys noticed? How do you find it in the UK?

I think some of the material seems very americanized especially mehow's stuff, however most is universal.

I also think women in the UK are used to bad direct game (rugby team asshole style quasi-rape) so if you can be tactful and direct with all the other elements of your game in place direct has amazing results.

That said I know most people here practice MM style pick up where it will be very focused on locking into sets for extended periods, whereas (correct me if I am wrong) I think american game is a much quicker sort of deal.

Most club-scene and teenage girls have become Americanized as well, when I was using the Mystery Method (and still occasionally do) i have never found a cultural problem, just substitute some obvious ones ("The View" = "Loose Women" or "Oprah").

Having sarged mostly in Cambridge, UK, I can agree with the original poster's statement:
I don't think you can generalise on such a massive scale, yet this statement does seem to hold true in my experience. A lot of the material is developed for clubs and atomospheres conductive towards pickup. When I first started using community-based ideas, I got results, but a lot of bad sides including excessive shit tests (which can be a good and bad thing).

I realised that I was often more effective pre-pickup days. Having a 'badguy' attitude, C&F etc can easily sway the wrong way, or not accepted well by different HB's.

With all the American-based PU ideas, one can fall into the flowery world of routines, over-showy lines and over-using often unncessary concepts like negs.

I don't know if the difference in girls' attitude here and in America is actually tangible enough to change one's pickup style, and there's no objective way of measuring this.

But certainly subjectively, I have found that except in clubs, a more chilled out, honest, simple and genuine/natural game approach has brought similar if not better results, but more importantly, SATISFYING results, because I enjoy the pickup more and I am just me; it's sustainable after the close too.
