I've seen it come up again and again in pick up literature that you don't need to pay for a girl's drinks and so forth. How far can (or should) one take this? After how many times of hanging out with a girl should one pay for food/movies/drinks/etc.?

Here are some examples:
1. I recently got a girl's number at a party. I'm taking her out next week for tea. Should I pay for the tea?

2. I'm going to a club with a girl this weekend and there's a cover charge. Should I pay it?

3. I'm meeting a girl in a couple days for tea that I haven't seen in a while, but I've hung out with a bunch before. Should I pay?

Some people tell me you never need to pay for a girl's stuff and it could offend them. Other guys tell me you definitely have to pay for a girl's stuff. Any insight would be appreciated.

No, she's going to have fun at the club too, why should you have to pay?

Basically, it's kinda mean but you pay for stuff when they've earned it. If they are pleasing you whenever you want then yea, you should reward them by paying for SOME stuff like dinner. But if it's a girl you just met that hasn't earned anything from you, why should you give her something she doesn't deserve and why should she expect you to? It's a privilege to go on a date with you, paying for all of her stuff makes you seem like the AFC that thinks money can buy love.
