I fell madly in love with someone and lost 100 pounds. Losing 100 pounds obviously changed my life and gave me a bunch of confidence. Eventually I had my heart broken by this woman and that sent me into a long and probably not healthy spout of dating.

Having the thing you love most in this world leave you and hurt you is the ultimate rejection-- after that nothing else really matters to you. I guess the benefit is that I had and have absolutely no fear of coming up to whomever I want at this point. Also, women seem to like men who have been in love; I think probably because it seems like sex isn't the only thing I'm looking for.

Anyways, after the breakup I dated like it was my job. I went through too many women to count. I thought moving on would fix things, but I eventually realized in order to move on I had to be okay with being single first. I ended up just hurting women that didn't deserve to be hurt. It's a pain that'll always be there, but I've learned to deal with it. It's made me stronger in the end. Also, I now have a great deal of knowledge on women and dating, so I'm here to give out some advice and hopefully help.

Here's a picture of my transformation for anyone who may be trying to improve their body/self image, maybe it can give you some inspiration.

Yeah I usually wear those shoes with a grey vest/white shirt, but that's my best fitting shirt and favorite shoes for the picture :)

Thanks! I invested a lot into my new clothes.

Outstanding job Gio! Mind giving a little insight on what you did (diet and excercise wise) to lose that much weight? How long did it take? I could stand to lose about 30 pounds myself.

Agreed. What was our secret? :)

I guess love can drive people to amazing things... but what sort of routine did you follow and how long did it take?

Thanks guys,

In total it took a little over a year-- could have taken less time, but I fell off the wagon a lot.

I lifted 5-6 days a week (changed my program a lot, but mostly did full body and upper/lower body splits to tear as much muscle down at once to burn calories in recovery). I also had a cardio regime, which also changed a lot. I started out just doing 10-20 minutes on a stationary bike and worked my way up to 45 minutes and eventually started jogging on a treadmill. Once I added high intensity interval training (HIIT) I saw great results. Google it if you're interested in that, very beneficial for fat loss.

My diet was strict. I had break down of 40protein/40carb/20 fat to start and eventually changed it to 50protein/30carb/20 fat. Meaning that 40% of my daily calories came from protein, 40% from carbs etc.. I ate lean meats, whole wheat carbs, healthy fats, and took fish oil, whey protein, and multi vit. I ate 6 small meals throughout the day and made sure to get all of my carbs before 5 or so. I found out how many calories I needed to maintain my weight and subtracted 500 from that.. and consumed that amount every day. In other words, I counted calories and kept track of everything I ate. Fitday.com was a great help with this. If you google calorie intake calculator there are calculators that estimate how many calories you should be getting. Websites like bodybuilding.com have archives of great articles and information on health.

If anyone wants more details, let me know.
