I feel bad now, I made a comment somewhere on here re guys having pics showing their bare chests (on Myspace etc) and I think I was judgemental about it...apologies...I see your pic and you sound cool, so forgive the judgement.

I was generalising as is the way on here!
I didn't see it..

It doesn't matter anyway.

I'm not the least bit insecure about posting the pic, or showing my chest.

How about you?

There's a balancing act. And without the guy chasing the girl around, and sticking his emotional neck out nothing happens.
I half agree with this. Guys definitely need to be the initiator, but there's no reason for him to be "chasing" her. David D talks a lot about generating attraction which I think is important. There needs to be an even exchange (of IOI's etc) IMO. "Chasing" sounds like you're throwing IOI's, flowers, dinners at her and HOPING that she'll bring herself down to your level. That doesn't sound very masculine to me.
No, no, no..

I was referring to the initial stages of approaching.

Look bro, I like near a big city. There are alot of very attractive women. I'm not rich enough, nor do I have time to woo every one of them. Nor would all of them probably want me to try.

Therefore I tend to only approach or initiate with those that send me some sort of signal. Sometimes they send partial or hard to read signals then get pissed when you don't get it immediately or respond the way they've been conditioned to men are supposed too.

You know like throwing the dog a bone or something.

Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned.

I have been reading these posts with interest. And although this one may not have the level of depth or sophistication I figured I would throw my own shiny two cents in.

...the fact that men should be the one chasing...if a girl does it, she tends to come across as needy and desperate...
This is so true and I think few people actually realise it. Men seem to always want that girl to come up to them in the bar and throw themselves at him. But like a girl may say 'I want a guy who does everything that I ask and pays for all my needs and obeys my every command' (excluding the dominatrix type of course) the guys are kidding themselves, it is what they really want.
I have been in the situation quite a number of times and you are not attracted to the girl who comes up to you with her first words 'Oh my gosh you are soo hoot!'.

Perhaps I am being very egocentric. Or perhaps not. I am unsure.Just my experience.
Oh my god I am tired and rambling.
Goodnight lovelies!
Good point..

Sometimes it feels like damned if you do, damned if you don't for all of us.

For years I misinterpreted a girl playing 'hard to get' or being coy as disinterest.

I mean to the point of if I detected any disinterest on her part whatsoever, I excused myself and never looked in her direction or spoke to her again.

That pissed a lot of them off too.

I suppose they thought I could read their minds or something.

Here's a great song from 1980, for those who have forgotten or were too young to remember what it was like when men and women were still able to be friends, etc... And everybody still knew and accepted what it was to be one, or the other.

You know, before wanting to do what comes naturally became something to be morally discouraged or financially exploited at every opportunity.

Starbuck...you have a point, I think some girls DO expect a guy to read their minds! I personally don't, why the hell would they be able to (we are not all predictable creatures!)..but I know friends in relationships who get a strop on when their fella doesn't say the right thing or guess what he is meant to do and get it right in her eyes. They then act moody with the guy until he apologises (for what, he doesn't know!) or they have a row because he has the balls to challenge her on what her mood is about.

I prefer a guy try and find out what's wrong rather than apologise for no good reason, just to keep the peace.

Hell yeah, let's do it...boys point of view and girls...a bit like the book 'He's Just Not That Into You'...a book all girls should read lol...

And guys for that matter...maybe all your PUAs should, it will show you what to avoid being like to make a girl feel shitty (if you wanted to avoid that).

"It is said that the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over while expecting a different result."

Men certainly don't have a corner on this market.

BTW, I'm a 46 yo guy married to a very successful woman. That's why I have so much time to type on the internet trying to help the guys that were in my position so many years ago.

The game? I just play for fun. I find it quite amusing that young ladies seemingly enjoy throwing themselves at me and rejecting younger bucks when I am, for all intents and purposes, unavailable. Always more alluring and comfortable to want something you can't have or afford I suppose. Or steal from somebody else.

Perhaps that's part of the problem in a nutshell.

I'm a man, not a miracle worker.

Yeah, there seems to be a thing about unavailable men that alot of girls are attracted to...maybe it's the challenge, maybe it's the safety of knowing it won't really go anywhere so they can enjoy the flirting.
Who knows. Maybe it's because available men give off different signals...too keen and on a mission.

Glad to hear you have a successful wife, sounds nice to me!

:D

I don't wear my ring as much anymore either.

Fortunately or unfortunately, I don't have that much in common with strange women anymore. My wife and I don't have any kids, and built a log house out in the woods a few years ago.

The vast majority of women I run into are shall we say, quite reserved and socially controlled especially here in the south/bible belt. Every now and then I will run into an exceptional outgoing personality. But it's rare and they are usually from somewhere else.

Commonality is important.

If you've got something neutral in common with a woman that gives you some cover other than being just another stranger looking to get laid, you've got a lot better chance of her reaching a comfort level with you.

Workplace romance is always an iffy proposition and a great way to get fired, which I learned the hard way on a couple of occasions years ago when certain women in more powerful positions took a fancy to me, but I didn't share in their passion. The real kicker, I never got any (that's probably why). I never said it was easy being a guy either.

Oh and you thought this only happened to women.. Nope. You should have seen the faces down at the unemployment office when I tried to tell them I was a victim of sexual harassment. Yeah, they thought it was funny too.

Congrats on the new job. Hope everything works out for you..

Oh well, back to the vacuum cleaner.. 8)

yeah, people keep asking me why I don't meet guys I like at work...there are no fanciable men at my work...none avilable and none I like that way!

It's hard to meet people in London...my age, guys are usually partnered up, got baggage or are freaks/weirdos/saddos lol

I am sure there are a few out there, but they don't have the skills of PUAs to actually do anything about it.

I met a guy at a party recently and we spent hours talking, he was lovely and made me laugh alot. I checked his hand discreetly to see if he was wearing a wedding ring, and he wasn't (I try and not flirt with married men)...he even joked with me about how hard it was to meet someone and he said 'I so hear that!'...he was American. Anyway, last ten minutes of a 3 hour coversation, he mentioned his wife! I admit, i was a bit gutted and pissed off he didn't wear a ring! Tease! lol

Ah well, just goes to show no ring means nothing! Bloody mine field it is I tell you! lmao

Holy crap... I take the night off the forums and blam I am freakin 20 posts behind. Okay here goes, I will just touch on a highlight here and there.

Red- Thnx for the fashion tips.. mind if I copy/quote/relocate them to the Fashion section for other guys to look up?

Starbuck - Ouch.. sexual harassment is nasty when it happends to guys. For women though it gets called 90% of the time on people who don't deserve it. (Although that 10% totally do.. freakin assholes). You have my condolences on the job and embarrasment I am sure you endured.

Women liking Attached Men- Social Proof. A woman thought enough of this guy to attach herself for Life! (Well... lifeISH) That is a hell-of-a endorsement right there! And the straight up challenge aspect of getting this permanently attached guy to "stray". And ofcourse the forbidden fruit thing... I mean a Triple threat combo like this is just scary!

Starbuck- Your HOW old?!?! Damn you have an amazing body for your age? You mentioned your wife was very successful... is she your sugar momma and you use that extra time to work out? Damn. (I swear I am not gay lol... just know a nice chest when I see it. lol... .. . craps.)

As to the Meeting a woman half-way... Yeah we aren't that lucky (Or atleast I am not.) There version of halfway is generally "If he gets me into bed I will moan at him." One day I will become a great cult leader and I will form my society around the premise of "Men are the Prize... women must seduce." And God will say "It is good." or something. And it will be spectacular! Much like oreos with milk... or cocoa-crispies with heave cream instead of milk.

Anyway. That is all, I think I am caught up. Whew.

EvoJ

P.S. Oh yeah.. Gratz on the promo red.
