i call my self an atheist but no the ""THERE IS NO GOD" type, an Agnostic. more of the freetought type which enistein is beleived to be.
i just don't believe in bible at all. they are just stories. "Through the reading of popular scientific books I soon reached the conviction that much in the stories of the Bible could not be true. The consequence was a positively fanatic orgy of freethinking coupled with the impression that youth is intentionally being deceived by the state through lie..." Albert Einstein. here enjoy... comment down below. Also go to this link. http://www.timeshighereducation.co.uk/s ... ode=402381. Its explains that in a research they found that the higher your Iq is the more the tendency to become an atheist. makes sense, huh?

I'm basically an atheist as well, for lack of a better term. At age 14, I began questioning my beliefs and ultimately concluded my family's religion (Catholicism) wasn't for me. For the next couple years, I went through a "there is no god!" phase. I was basically rebelling and reacting. It's very important to respect others beliefs, however silly they may seem to you.

Have you experienced any negativity towards you as a result of your beliefs (or lack thereof) or has it become a problem with dating people who are religious?

I'm muslim (not your stereotypical one.. my parents are from europe and i get pale in the winter lol) and as much as I hate to admit it, I went through a phase of doubting the existance of God. Man, all I did was watch some very interesting videso about Islam and it really strengthened my belief... if any other muslim is having this problem, pm and i'll send you the links to these vids because I know it can be VERY psychologically painful if you can't be at peace with yourself about whether there is a god or not. So yeah, long story short i fully believe in God again.

It's great to learn about different religions, even if you have no interest whatsoever in practicing them (like me). It helps you understand where different people are coming from a lot better. All religions really have great things to say at their core, as well.

Something I've had to work a lot on is prejudices and misconceptions in my thinking about religious people. I used to automatically blow off a girl if I found it she was religious. I'd tell myself "Oh, she'll just want to get married". Be careful of making these assumptions. Not all Christians or even Catholics agree that one should wait 'til marriage to have sex (and I don't think I've known anybody who actually has waited 'til marriage to have sex). I've found most people's religious beliefs are really more personal than orthodox, aside from someone who's going to be a monk, priest, rabbi, etc. Either way, it's all about respect.

Yeah, faith in reason.

I actually do think that God is a useful concept, but only when understood as the ultimate. If you can draw a boundary between God and something else and say, "this thing here is God and this thing here is not God", then you've created a finite God because it has a limit. But if God is infinite, then by definition you cannot do this. An infinite God is necessarily everything that exists.

You're not an atheist if you believe there might be something "out there". You're an agnostic at best.

There is no difference believing in new age spiritual crap or in Bible. They are all fairy tales.

Atheists believe only in things that can be explained with logic, science and experiments. Basically in things that are based on evidence.

I'm an Atheist at 17. I like to consider myself very well informed......

Search YouTube for: Pat Condell

Right now, don't wait!

He's a genius in his own right.
He speaks in very much disgust of the Islamic community and in religion in general for what he states as it imposing a universal morality.

For example in the Koran it would say to kill anyone who doesn't believe in that entity, or something to that degree

I Believe in the following: Your rights end where mine begin!

You believe in what you want to, but the very second it conflicts with my rights as a human being there is a problem...........

I don't believe in Religion. I consider myself as an Agnostic Fundalmentalist. It basically means "I don't know what really out there and I don't think any other human being does". I'm not religious but i am spiritual. There IS a difference...

anyway that was my 2 cents thanks for reading......

I respond "I'm not honest but that's really interesting" to that phrase. lol
I can definately tell you there is a God. Not too sure what the real name is, but it would be blasphemy for us to know it anyway. :) I've even tried to disprove the existence of God myself. I can even explain how planets and the universe has formed, but life I cannot... but if you consider yourself too informed and enlightened to believe, you really don't understand just how small you are. Belief in God is mostly an exersise in humility and understanding that nothing is certain. Comfort is drawn from that belief as well as prayer. I draw my comfort in the fact that I can take care of myself and be independent. Most of you are still young and don't want to really look at everything, but I do urge you to continue your thoughts and ideas and most of you will come to realise A truth, but not THE truth. lol

And yes, your rights end where mine begin so long as I am the stronger. Naturally, the weak have no rights becasue they cannot maintain them.

Keep this up guys. I look forward to reading more responses to this thread.

No it takes a certain lack of faith to be an Atheist. I don't believe in the existence of God but I can't prove that he doesn't exist I just simply doubt his existence. So called militant Atheist fundamentalists are who say that God doesn't exist are hypocrites to their own theory that things can only be proven true/false if there's evidence to back it up.

No you can't. The only thing you can know is the fact that you're thinking, everything else could be an illusion and not really exist.
