So I had an idea of how to meet girls when my GF at the time was apartment hunting.
She would tell me about how she met these 2 awesome girls at the first place she looked at, then this apartment with 2 girls and a guy.
Anyways, here is the kicker:
Roommate ads are a form of personals.
The tenant will usually list their age, sex, school/job, interests, pet peeves, etc.
You show up, and have a 10 minute conversation about yourselves, some light kidding, and more importantly, are you two compatible (to live together).
I'm sorry but as far as I'm concerned, that's a date.
Once all is said and done, the number close is pretty much obligatory, and then you guys are friends on facebook for a couple weeks, where you can DHV and false disqualify ("Yeah being a roommate with you wouldn't be a problem, there is no way we would ever have to worry about hooking up.")
Then it's just a simple matter of saying you couldn't get out of your lease, and all of a sudden you are high up on her list of potential mates.
I check craigslist and facebook market for ads where girls are looking for apartments and send them an email (or better yet, call). If it doesn't list if they are guys or girls, I still send an email at the very least.
I've found it's really important to not show direct interest until you pull out of the running for the apartment.
