I've been trying a lot of online game. I'm about average looks. my photo was rated 5.7/10. I've been sending out some very good openers but still my response rate is abysmal. One girl actually replied "the words you use make no difference to me I just look at the photo"

I'm on the point of giving up. Any advice ?

On-line game- yeah id say more so, people have to judge image because anyone can say anything online and you always hear stories of creepy people online!

Day/Night game- No way dude most or a lot of PUA's/MPUA's are pretty much butt ugly!

a lot of it has to do with your profile set up not your looks entirely.

you have to have DHV photos etc to show multiple sides of your personality. If you're of avg looks just use a few that you think are the best ones of you.

Here's my take... YES, pictures matter. They need to communicate that you are a FUN and SOCIAL guy. If you have 10 pictures of yourself, 8 of which are mopey "emo myspace" type... you will fail.

As an example... I've been throwing up a lot of pics on hotornot.com. I usually get about an 8, but if you look at the actual vote stats, peak votes is around 6-7. i.e. I'm average.

Now....... when I threw up a picture of me with my arm around a HB6........ I got a 9.7. Interestingly, with a HB8-9, I fared worse - 8.9. Feel free to experiment, but don't take the voting seriously until you have a good sample of 200 or more. Also feel free to PM me and I can tell you specific things about your profile that a girl may not want to tell you.

Looks do matter some and online they matter a bit more. You're going to be rejected more often than not anyhow whether you look great or not. Women just like saying no and like the power trip. You said that you've been rated a 5.7 when rated. Just off of the top of my head, I'd say that if you tweek things a bit you'd be able to probably get a 7.7. The biggest flaw a guy can physically is probably having a weight issue. Almost anything can be improved upon though. Smartass brought up a great point about being seen with very attractive women. Those things give you value to other women. One thing I would also like to add is that you can't let yourself listen to what women say. It's not like you will hear anything logical anyhow.

I'm not convinced hotornot really translates to otherplaces. Its a purely basic opinion and there's no indication of what types are rating you high or low. I got 8.4 on there, which claims to be "You are hotter than 82% of men on this site!"
yet, what happens on pof tells a more accurate story.

If you look at unsolicited visible page views on pof, this, in my opinion is a better indication of the type of girls you're appealing to on looks.

another good place I reckon is tagged.com as the meet me section is purely looks orientated and you get feedback. Girls you say 'yes' to are notified and have the option of "yes" or "no". Therefore your appeal is who says "yes" to your "yes".
Anywhere you dont get sufficient feedback is of limited use.

If ur face sucks, its not that easy to improve.

its not even really about how YOU look...its how the PICTURE looks...look up Myspace the movie on youtube and youll hear talk of "the myspace angles" that ugly girls use...

i put up two different pics on hotornot...

one was a 4...the other got a 9...

the 4 was one of those little webcam things people take right when its time to make the profile...

the 9 was taken by a friend of mine with a very high quality camera...it was taken while i was on stage so i had make-up on to make my skin look clear and i was dressed all cool (performing Grease)...

so yeah...its not you...its the pictures...

my 8.4 is with a webcam pic tho...if I didnt have the hair I have it might be a different story tho

Thanks for the replies. Ok I should have said part of my problem is my age. I'm 49 this year, been told I look 10 years younger, but even still as you age you simply don't look as good.

I have very slight bags under my eyes, I considered surgery. I don't normally wear glasses but thought about buying a really good paid of designer glasses with no prescription and going for a different look.

Can you give me your views on that. Some guys do look very good in them. So what do women think of guys in glasses ??
