Something like ‘Your feet must be hurting because you have been walking on my mind all day’

I was reading a David Black post http://social-masters.com/blog/pick-up-lines and I thought to myself are pick up lines really that bad or can they work.

Personally i have never had success with them but i have always wondered if that was down to the line used or down to the way i have said it. Would it work now that i have better body language and my speech has improved. That i am more confident around women.

Feel free to share your successes or failures and the lines used. It should be quite interesting.

yeah, but only as a total joke, or when the girl was pretty drunk, or both.

I once went straight up to a girl, and in my best butthead voice from Beavis and Butthead (and i was pretty good at them in highschool):

"Uhhh...huhuhuhuh...so ummm... you wanna do it? Huhuhuhuhuh?"

Still cant believe that worked. =P But honestly, pick up lines do NOT work unless you are using them in conjunction with humor and a lot more game.

I have used some several times but always in a joking kinda way, if the girl is into you she will go for it, if not they are laughing and probably in conversation so its time to run normal game.

i love using pick-up lines as a wing. this weekend, my buddy was gaming a target, i was dealing with her mother hen friend. i hear her say to him, "why do guys always insult (neg) me and think its flirting?" i walked over to them, and said, "thats not flirting, THIS is flirting" and proceeded to creepily inch over to her and drop a bad line or two. she laughed and forgot the whole thing in a second.

What Mystery said is very true, in the sense of FRAME. If you honestly go in there thinking that "your legs must be hurting you because you've been running on my mind all day" that it no way shape or form is going to work. If you take just a second to think about this, from a girl's perspective what do you say to that, " yeah my legs do hurt?".

These lines normally work, as a total ice breaker. Spin it off and ask her has that line ever worked on her. Or that you just heard some guy use and that girl across the room threw her drink at him.

All about frame. Deliver it with a smile, and something to totally spin the conversation away from, and your fine.

Think about talking to her about why her legs are hurting her, then your not so fine.

daggaz - Some good points to take on board. I suppose using them in a humerous way could actually work quite well. How the Beavis and Butthead thing worked i will never know "I am Cornholio, I need piccata for my bunghole!" Can't see it working

Jaybot - It seems like it could work if used correctly. Could be funny and very effective if used with other techniques.

ID - All i can say is awesome wingman demonstration. Shows that pick up lines can work in pick up, just not how most people would think.

samex - Great advice. Taking a pick up line and just adding another technique on the end. Opinion opener or situation style opener. Both would work well.
