I have personally experimented with drinking 16oz of cold water everymorning and I felt an increase in metabolic rate which made me keep doing it, I still am.
It is not impossible that this is a placebo effect but whatever works is good I say.
Also, I drink the water in the morning instead of sugar filled juice that so many others drink and I think thats another positive tweak of it.
Some of my clients also reported positive results from starting the day with cold water.
And water can't really hurt you (unless you drown in it  ) so just try it!

Cheers! With doing cardio after weights, would a protein shake and some fruit after the weights help. Or wait till after cardio as well.

Wait till after cardio so you can keep your metabolism going.

So weights, then cardio, then protien and fruit

I heard doing that starves the muscles, they dont want to do more work, they want to have some protein in em.

The goal is to gain muscle and lose fat? Does the goal have anything to do with it

I do 10 minutes before and 10-15 minutes of cardio after.

I have had no problem... if you drink WATER you shouldn't have any problems whatsoever.

Drinking at least a gallon a day... probably half gallon at least during workout, you wont be 'starving' your muscles... water is what helps muscles and makes them grow... hence creatine.

Protein just rebuilds your fibers and muscle.

How often should a muscle be trained per week? Some day 1 week to let it fully recover, some say after 48 hrs the muscle loses mass since its not being used.

How many sets should be done for a muscle. Ive heard it should be around 12 -15 sets all up, however I see most of the big people at the gym do way more

Thanks in advance :D:D:D:D:D:D

I usually give my muscles 3 days to recover.

I usually give my muscles 3 days to recover.
I do one major compound once a week along with 2 accessory exercises. Keeping the compound high weight low reps and the accessories med weigh high rep.

Example:

Monday:
Bench Press 3x5
DB rows 5x6-20
Incline DB press 5x6-20

Wednesday: (follows the same set/weight/rep ratio as monday)
Deadlift
Straight leg deadlift
abs

Friday: (follows the same set/weight/rep ratio as monday)
Military Press
Upright rows
Incline DB press

For people here just starting out start with compound movements:
Bench Press
Squat
Deadlift
Military Press
Power Clean
BB Row

I recommend Rippetoe's Starting Strength as a routine to start with, I dont recommend going straight into a split routine, its more important to build a base first. To build muscle you're going to need to eat in a caloric surplus, for most this is 3000-4000 calories depending on bodyweight. Eat healthy fats, more carbs and atleast 1g of protein for every pound of bodyweight. If you have trouble you can buy a weight gainer or protein powder.

If you any further questions about bulking please ask:)

I was recently prescribed an antibiotic call doxycycline for my moderate acne. I've been taking for a few days and can already tell a big difference.

What are the negatives of taking this related to bodybuilding. I've heard it can affect your gains b/c good bacteria helps your digestive system etc....Is this true? Also what are the other negatives to taking this related to getting gains in the gym? Thanks

Guys, with that drinking cold water and the increase in metabolism, it works because your body has to use energy to warm the water up to body temperature.

Read it in FLEX :D

Thanks also to the guys that told me to do cardio after weights, then hitting up a protein shake. Being doing it for the past few days and able to lift more and run longer.

no_one089, can i ask you about losing fat and gaining muscle lol

You can ask us all... lol

Joe19: Explain it more please. I don't see how it could possibly affect gains.

If you take an antibiotic for acne it kills both the bad bacteria and the good bacteria in your body. Bad bacteria is what causes acne, and good bacteria helps in many of your body's functions including digestion. I read an article that said if your digestion isn't as good it can affect our gains. Anyways, just wanted to know if anyone had heard about this or any other negative side effects of the drug related to bodybuilding....or personal experience
