It usually has to do with your age, my guess is that you are under 25, and your bodytype is called an ectomorph.
Your body type causes you to look this way, usually it changes slightly as you get older and your metabolism slows down.
What you can do is to work out a lot and make sure that you eat all the protein you need to support muscle growth.
Since you are thin I can't recommend you to hit the heaviest weight immidiately, your joints would suffer from this.
Lift weights that weigh about 70 - 80% of your maximum lifting capacity, work out hard 3 sets of 15 reps on each exercise.
I can also recommend that you take some sort of supplement, creatine will make you stronger and cause you to retain more water, which will make you look bigger.
