| Okay,
HB9 came into Starbucks where I work, I made her drink and she initiated conversation after I took her drink order. I asked her where she worked, she told me nautica (across the street about 30 yards). I struck up an opener of Gambler's suggestion to get her advice on a gift I should help my friend buy for his girl for Valentine's day (this was a few weeks ago). We chat for a bit, she seems responsive but has to go to work so she leaves.
I go into nautica a week later, nonchalantly asking her for style tips, she helped me and was very nice, laughed at a stupid joke I made about the gift my friend bought for his girl. I continue to try on different clothes, made a joke about how she must have to be some sort of gymnast to reach all the stuff in the store. Asked her if they were going to install a trapeze so she could hang stuff from the ceiling. She laughed. I asked for her number but kind of got burned, she said something to the extent of "no, I'm working". So I said, "okay guess I'll see you later" and left like it was no big deal.
She came into starbucks about two weeks later looking for me on a day I had already left, but someone told her I was working the next day so she came back in see me and said, "I'm not here for a drink, I wanted to apologize for what I said, I don't want you to think I'm a bitch," so I said that's okay, I would have been sketched out by someone asking for my number after I had made their drink. We chuckled, she kept staring at me, so I asked "well now that you're not working do you want to give me your number?" Kind of AFC'd here but she let me off the hook and said "yeah I guess so" trying to act non-chalant. I called her out on coming over twice to find me, she laughed, I handed her my phone and she put it in. My boss sent me on break so I ran the cube routine on her. I went back to work, she waved and smiled when she left.
We texted and made plans on Monday for today (Thursday). She sent a text today that said she couldn't make it because her mom had just gotten engaged and they were going to celebrate. This doesn't seem like a flake because the story lines up with what I already knew, that her parents were divorced (her number is a weird area code so I asked her why and it's because her dad lives in another state). I already texted her back and simply said, "Okay, no problem. Have fun" I didn't want to seem upset by it, like it didn't bother me, anything else I was thinking of at the moment was too AFC ie asking her to give me a rain check or saying "I'll let you know when I'm free" just sounds too stand-offish.
OKAY...enough back story...
My question is what do I do from here? I'm going to wait a few days before I do anything, just to lay low. Should I text her again maybe after the weekend and just start small talk? What should my icebreaker text be when I do text again?
