I disagree. Read the context. If you're off to a hot, steamy nightclub, you can up it a substantial amount. Your smell will have little affect in the club as it'll be overshadowed by the SPAM of the club as well as the inhibition of her senses assuming she's drinking in the club. This way when you're in the cab on the way home with her you wont smell like sweaty balls. Any other circumstances other than the club scene I'd agree.

STYLE recommended John Varvatos. I wound up getting it and you would not believe how much women love it. It can be very difficult to find but if you check high end department stores in malls or something, you can find it. Its a black bottle with a black leather band around it. Its expensive but its worth every dime.

Totally unlike anything I've used before...smells 'clean', which is of course a good thing.

Also, Issey Miyake is good if you want something similarly different (does that even make sense?). Many colognes can be too musky, and consequently overpowering (especially if you don't apply it properly). Those I've listed are classy, lighter and more unisex, which in my opinion is a good thing.

Another thing...never apply cologne to your wrists...it's utterly pointless, and something women do - neck, and at a push chest only.

I think you should get the cologne that fits you. I am a really chill guy and I use Tommy Bahama Very Cool it reminds me of the beach very calm sent. Whenever a girl gives me a hug they always compliment how i smell.

Going off topic for a second but is it only me that loves it when a girl you are particularly interested in wears your sweater or something and when you get it back. It smells like her.

For those of you that don't know . . . pheromones is a natural chemical that "attracts" the opposite sex.
For the record it has yet to be scientifically proven that humans produce or respond pheromones. Some animals however do.

On a similar note I remember hearing somewhere that the smell of baby powder turns some women on... something to do with increased androgen production in females on the scent... Anybody know about this??

From my limited experience with cologne, some of the fan favorites in my collected are...

-Fierce by Abercrombie and Fitch: I work there, so I smell like it after work. My girlfriend loves the way I smell after work, so I'm assuming shes not the only one. Sells like crazy too.

-Crush by Curve: This was my old stuff, smells a little fruity but the girls would always ask what it was and say they loved it.

-Acqua Di Gio by Armani: New favorite to wear when dressing up nice. Has a subtle smell that won't overwhelm, but still noticable.

-Code by Armani: Came in the three back of Armanis, has a stronger smell to it so I wear with my casual A|X stuff. Works well.

Oh, and my third Armani scent, Attitute, sucks. That shit smells like an old man, I never use it.

I tried that COOL WATER... It had awesome reviews here... I was surprised.. Not for the smell but for those reviews... 4 words came to my mind about this cologne (its nice smell though): simple, basic, plain, regular. I can't imagine getting compliments over this very basic smell :)
In comparison take for instance bvlgari aqua marine smell. This is what I call awesome smell. Compared to cool water its like 100$ smell compared to simple 10$ smell. And there are lots of decent smells.. cool water is the simpliest and most basic out of all smells is this category imho
Way way wayoverrated

Just 2cents :)

Question... Is cologne a must? I've never purchased any before...

And is there a site I can get free samples from?

Adolfo Dominguez Vetiver Hombre.

Currently looking for another scent to complement it but haven't decided at this stage.
