Calling, not leaving message

This girl and I were out the other night, we got along well, it was Wednesday and my friend suggested I call Sunday. So instead of calling at night I called mid-day. His suggestion was to not leave a voicemail, which he said would be like "bait." Ok so I did this and haven't received a call back.

Is it wrong to follow up tomorrow night? How should I approach this?

Once every day or so is more than sufficient. Don't blow her phone up. Though I would leave 1 voicemail to let her know who's calling.
