I recently read an article that was based on eastern philosphy and how "making love" can actually improve your life.

This is the article : http://www.reuniting.info/wisdom/lao_tz ... nscendance

Sean, you should definetly read this because it supports your idea of having one partner whom you deeply care for.

For those of you that read this article, share your opinions and experiences. I would like to see how many people agree with this, or have experienced something similar.

It obviously is not seeping in. Not with that avatar it isn't. You, like most on here, have not embraced who you really are. Angry avatars give off bad energy. We are all one. You are one with the computer. Everything has energy.

Remember, Zen, Tao, etc. are in no way supportive of weird freaks like Mystery. Remember, the goal is to just be. Nothingness. The WHOLE concept of pickup is wrong. There should be no goal. Again, nothingness. Attaching yourself to titles is not the way. Living life in mindfulness is our aim.

Great stuff, but way over the head for most horny boys.

Suzuki, Osho, Watts, Hanh, etc. Those men will test your belief systems. Remember, you should be able to receive more joy in washing someone's dishes than you are banging some tramp. Hard to believe, but with the right mindset you would be stunned at the natural high you can receive doing everyday chores. I have spent time with Orthodox Christian monks in Bulgaria who sweep for hours. Amazing stuff. The peace and joy on their faces is something that has to be seen to be believed.

i dunno if this quote thing worked as it was supposed to but anyway, the ego in my mind was very offended at first when i read that reply, but as i waited for the thought of pain subsided i realized ( is it realized or realised?....better just dicitonary.com it....realized.) that what you are implying makes complete sense and should not be argued with. as for my avitar, in a futile effort for my ego to feel better and jump to a defense so i dont seem like a "horny boy" lol i will only say i think he looks quite comical. makes me laugh. which is a good thing. i think. aaaaanywho i dont believe you can find who you truly are... i think that that is impossible or paradoxical...if thats a word. the closest one can ever get to knowing themselves is the realization that they do not know themselves. but thats just an opinion of "mine" ha as if nobody ever thought of that before. I can only hope that one day i become more aware of my thoughts so as not to be so blind...but than again ignorance is bliss. thanks for the names senor i will have to check them out as well. good day.

expat seems to be going well over the concepts of the self as a form separate from the universe.
Tell me, Expat, do you like the idea of singularity ?
:D

I like that articles and ideas like this get spread.

Like the idea of Tantra, which I think I remember originated in philosophies of Lao Tzu and Taoism as well as Buddhism, Hinduism and have roots in most eastern mystic heritages.

The concept of the Sex as something more than just a chase for temporary release in the form of an orgasm.

I like to see sex as an art form.
Like Composing music, or Painting a picture, using synesthesia, blending several senses into one whole experience of pure pleasure, driving the sexual act into the mystical/magical realm by not focusing on orgasms, and in stead rather hold the orgasms back, by stopping stimulation when it seems impossible to stop, continuing after a few seconds pause.

Sound, smell, sight, sensation, taste, and even by pacing breaths, (for those of you who are familiar with pranayama or other breathing techniques, this can be great) words describing the senses, changing the focus of the sexual energy/chi/prana/ki/etc. from sense to sense, (words and other vocal expressions can be immensely powerful)

I think I agree with roady that knowing one's true self is kind of a paradox,
but then again, I won't say it to be impossible. Because I can't know.
yet.
:P
I see the self or the ego, the body you currently inhabit, as a fraction of the true self. Everything is, according to eastern mystic traditions and Quantum Physics, connected much more intimately than we may first suspect.
Experiments within Quantum Mechanics and such have time and again demonstrated Bell's Theorem, which holds that two particles or objects, once they have been in contact with eachother remain correlated regardless of distance in such a way that if something occurs to one, it instantaneously (at the exact same nano-second, or perhaps without even as much as that) affects the other part. Regardless of distance.

Knowing this alone, and realizing that this has been proven to be "true" (true is such an odd concept, it changes at least once a year.)
Should be enough to help people reconsider their values.
The Orgasm, the Monetary Tick as Shakespeare dubbed it, isn't the most worthwhile goal of sex.
Self gratification is not the most noble goal, unless you are focused on the "true" self, which is all. (I have a tendency to make this correlate with the concepts of God, Pan, or other deities, spiritual views, etc. and I think religions are the most misunderstood and abused concept in our physical existence.)

The gentle sex that was described in that article does have a lot of advantages of the aggressive, orgasm-oriented sex that is the ordinary nowadays.

I am however of the orientation that you can be able to achieve this with multiple partners, though not to the extent that you can do it with more than two or three at a time.
It takes much more energy, and gives much more to both participants :D

It's great this sort of stuff gets posted in here.
Thanks man ;)
Cheers.

Good, very good. That is one of the things I like about the "new community" it is very progressive. Wolf, even though you don't completely agree with the practice, you see its purpose and advantage.

As far as Eastern Philosophy goes, I've recently had a hair up my ass to learn it, so I will probably be posting more articles of this like; anything from sex to self-improvement.

Of course ;)
I see the advantage of having one girl, and I also don't advise people to go out and actively get several at a time unless they have the stuff worked out, and are sure the women do not take sex as this ultimate exclusive bond between two people.

However if one expects to have multiple female companions one should be prepared for them to also have the same arrangement.
Anything else would be unfair.
So if you're not able to deal with a woman having other sex-partners than yourself you shouldn't expect her to accept it either.

Having one girl that you dedicate your sexual energy and such to is far better than having only ONSs, and meaningless sex.

I'm a big fan of having Steady sexual relationships, but I'm not a big fan of the emotional possessive relationships that float around.

People who become possessive about others is cute, and an adorable concept, but it has way too much instability for me to be completely comfortable with it. What with the destructive desire to Own the person you desire.

This seems to be a way for me to interpret the message of Non-attachment in Zen Buddhism.
To be able to let go, and love the moment and what is there, without limits, and when the moment ends, to smile, enjoy what has been, and move on without regret.

I hope you do post more articles like this..
I think it is extremely interesting, and I'd love to learn more in the ways of Eastern Philosophies.

I'll post if I stumble across something related, ;)

Cheers.

just throwing this out there but i am at the tail end of reading tolle's book "A New Earth; finding your life's purpose" (i think thats the whole title lol) this book, to me, is amazing AND combines a few different eastern philosophical ideas. I feel like its a great start for me in "finding my spiritual being" so to speak. :D

Yes but you forgot the last stanza of this classic koan. "I am me, you are you."

Nothingness = "Everythingness", which is why as you say, there is completeness even in sweeping floors. In fact, there is truly no difference between sweeping floors and telling a girl, "You come here often?" If you can understand this, your floor sweeping sessions will become even more fulfilling.

Also . . . I'd argue that there is a goal. Guys . . . try answering this question. "Why are you sweeping the floor?" Answer: _____________. What's your GOAL? I'd love to see the responses.

The entire pickup industry lives off of fear. It is perfect for students and those who are stuck in the middle. Hell, be a freak and/or outcast. At least you won't be one of the crowd trying to compete against your mirror image times 1,000.

Trust me, the hardest thing is just being you. It is cool for college age students to read Eastern Philosophy. I remember when everyone was doing it. Doesn't mean a thing to any of them. Before the fall of communism it was a good way for older guys to pickup white girls. All they had to do was become a guru of sorts. Now a simple plane ticket to Kyiv/Kiev or Sofia will do, and you won't have to wear any lame robes.

I think most of anything in the society we live in today is based on fear.
People operate pretty much out of the lower brain, the reptilian brain, the first circuit.
Away from pain towards good.
Sadly people seem to motivate each other mostly on the basis of Away from pain.

If you also toss in the second circuit: Top Dog/Bottom Dog, Alpha/omega, Herrenmoral/Sklavenmoral, you have pretty much most of the human race pegged.

Fewer people than not, have evolved into the Rational third circuit and the Sexual/Moral fourth circuit.

And even fewer into the V-VIII circuits that go beyond what Gurdijieff called The False Persona (which correlates with the first Four circuits of consciousness in Leary's model.)

kasabi:
Nothing Is,
Nothing Becomes,
Nothing is not.

In one state of mind, sweeping may have no purpose, and sweeping may be the purpose. or it may not even be important whether or not there is a purpose.
If I sweep, I sweep, and if I don't, I don't.
The goal may be to have swept. or the goal may be to have something to focus on, such as clearing the dust and dirt of the world from this part of the world.

I seldom consider the goal, I sometimes consider it arbitrary.
There doesn't have to be a goal. or the goal may be the action in itself.

if the goal seems to be the action in itself, preferably a task considered mundane and monotonous, then the goal of the sweeping may not be to have swept, but to simply sweep.
To occupy the body, in a way that the performer of the action may find peace of mind, the stillness of the moment.
In a way, it may be considered a form of meditation.

I'll leave it hanging there,
I have to go. :)

Cheers ;)
