Still new to the PUA life, trying to put my book knowledge into practice.

Met up with a new mate I'd met at a bar friday (he'd a fine selection of ladies with him and was heading out saturday). Turns out it was a girls b'day and several more of her friends arrived throughout the night.

Opened two of them with the old 'so how do you know the birthday girl..."
Girl1: I used to work with her
Girl2: I don't, I'm friends with Girl1
Me: Oh, so you're a sponge
Girl2: No! How do you know her then?
Me: Oh I'm a sponge as well, I only met [mutual friend] the night before.
Girl2: So you're a sponge too!
Me: Yeh but I called it first, you can't use it also.

Thus with an opening neg we (Girl2 and I) got to talking. A few DHV's later and we're headed out on the dance floor. On the way she says something about

Girl: "you just want to hear more about my two night stand" (earlier conversation)
Me: "No, that's boring, lets go dance" (taking her by the hand)

We're dancing and she leans in and asks

Girl: So, would you like to take me home tonight?
Me: (Heart racing) Uhh.. sure
Girl: If you can guess my age, I'll go home with you

This is where I started fucking up. In short, I got the guesses wrong and floundered. I didn't keep my cool and suddenly instead of her pursuing me, I ended up pursuing her because of this temptation she lured out.

Then as we sat and talked a little later, I over-negged. I also overheard her talking to my mate about "i hate this, every time i want to make a friend..." (semi-within earshot) so I just talked to some other people and got some space.

Wrapped up the evening, me still being the fool and not completely backing off. I applied the brakes a little towards the end, and we organised to catch each other at a bar next week.

Being relatively new to all this, I recognise I was thrown by a test that I didn't handle well. I turned into the chump and lowered my value. I will do my best to learn from the situation, and NOT let it happen again.

for a beginner thats great progress, a lot of new people still have approach excitement and lets it get the best of them, but sounds like you did great until she set that shit test, lol who wouldnt be tempted to say hell yeah i want to take you home and fuck your brains out, but as you get more into this and sarge more your inner game will be much stronger and NATURALY you wont be tempted to say yes, you might start to feel as if shes insecure about the situation so, that is why shes asking that direct question, but great job, keep sargin

Cheers guys for feedback. I was pretty bummed and found it hard (in more ways than one) to get to sleep that night. I'm thankful for a site like this and all the awesome resources that help me to understand what ACTUALLY went down.

The main concern I have isn't about the girl but about losing value and coming off as a dickhead in front of my new mate. The biggest lesson I learnt was the value of making friends with social guys like him. It massively improved opportunities and provides immediate social proof. I value his mateship more than whether I burnt my bridges with one girl.

Hopefully more positive news to report next week!

Yeah man bummer but you started out great! but you gotta keep your eyes open for the shit tests. In that situation a response like "i dont do that on the first date" or "Woah slow it down horny girl im not that easy" is appropriate. After that test it would have been much easier i promise

I would of said a age that is obviosly wrong like 92 or 12 or something like that and then just say "bugger and i was going to get lucky too" really sarcastically.

The title of the thread is misleading.. it looks like you turned the tables on yourself!

But anyways, seeing as how you're still new to the game, that sounds like you did a pretty good job. I agree with the guy above me. I would have said some completely rediculous age and say, "Ahh!! I was gonna get lucky too!"
