She says something about working out, and look at her with a quizzical stare and say You work out.

Not really.

It's on the better side of negs in that it's not a thinly veiled insult.

It really depends on the delivery though.

In general though, negs aren't that useful and should be avoided. You can display value, rather than try and lower hers.

I would use negs as a punishment method. If she displays bitchy characteristics THEN neg her, but don't neg her without reason.

Agreed.

I'd say depending on how you say it you're either straight out insulting her, or you're teasing her. It really depends on how you say it though and trying to explain it properly with just words would take all day long. Teasing is a fine art.

Honestly, depending on the tone, this could be a flat out compliment. I would take it as "you don't need to work out, you're so hot" if it is said in a certian tone.

In terms of negs, if I do this at all, I just want the girl to second guess my statements and that's it.

So the perfect backdrop for, "Really? You work out?", is a somewhat pleasant surprise look on your face. Imagine a buddy just gave you a gift for no reason at all but the gift is a half of a chocolate bar. Weird, but you still take it with a "somewhat pleasant surprised look" on your face.

Basically what you're saying is, "Honey, it's gonna take some more effort than that to gain my interest."

I hope this comment isn't taken the wrong way, but coming from someone who is in the gym at least 5 days a week...A comment like that, no matter how they look, can actually be very, very destructive mentally!
She could be an absolute 10 but it doesn't matter! I'm not saying that's always the case, feel free to use it if you want but be aware of the results!

Since people, more often than not, are at the gym to better themselves in some way...I would go for a subtle compliment, on technique or even results...but don't just go and tell her she's sexy! Actually, I found that telling a girl she's sexy is a good compliment for AFTER she gets done at the gym! Hope this helps a little!

"You are not your market." - Some marketing guy probably came up with it.

Having said that, like you, I do wish more people would sway to the more careful side of things when dealing with other people's emotions. This is a good thing.
