I don't like this response. Yeah, it conveys standards etc... but it basically confirms her assessment of him.
You need a way to say you're not this guy she thought you were, without trying to sound like you're looking to validate yourself.
A good example might be like...
"lol! that's so funny you said that, I left my last ex for the same reasons. I just want to have fun one day at a time, and she was really into this fairy tale life of romanticism, which to me is just kind of boring. lol. Beautiful girl though, found her a guy that she fits with a little better. You sound like you've had the same problems, lol."
*I love love love ending with questions that aren't really questions. Great way to provoke a response. End with a positive *(but not needy) assumption about someone, and watch how they respond. Plays to their ego. They will almost always message you back looking to validate themselves.
