I get very nervous when out chatting to women. I normally drink to steady my nerves and more often then not end up pissed :( and left with no value to women at all. I was wondering is it ok to drink or are you more successful when you don't? I guess it's down to the person but do the top PUA's drink?

Interesting question, I was just thinking about this myself.

IMO it depends on the person. Personally, I'd rather have a few drinks, it helps to steady my nerves, and loosens me up a bit. I have approach anxiety most of the time, and a few drinks pretty much defeats it.

Know your limit though, getting drunk isn't going to score you any points, and you'll most likely end up coming off like an ass.

For me it's 2-3 drinks, depending on what I'm drinking, but that's different for everyone.

I'd recommend having at least ONE drink, just for the fact that walking aorund a bar w/out a drink looks a bit fishy (unless it's part of you game for some reason), and it's gives your hands something to do there than fidget. Also, you can show a little about yourself by what you're drinking, there's a big difference between say a beer and a martini.

I'm by no means an accomlished PUA though, so anyone w/more experiece feel free to chime in w/thier own experiences.

2 Long Islands pretty much eliminates all the butterflies in my stomach when im out sarging, but not everyone knows how to act when they are drunk so i wouldnt suggest it to everyone. IMO its better to smash your AA without liquor cause it wont always be there when you see that HB.

Experiment with drinking bottles instead of pints.

also you could try drinking until you're ready to make your first cold approach. then once you've done that, put the drink down and do more approaches with no drinks.

if your worried about the physical effects of drinking (bleary eyes, slurred speech, balance, burping etc) drink vodka and red bull.

never drink never drank never will drink and i dont need to drink cause i feel fine when i go out with friends and talk to girls...

i dont need liquid courage to help me out there bud......

true pua's dont need liquor or beer to help them out it comes natural ...

i find drinking to still be a form of approach anxiety if you need it or it helps you approach

so do yourself a favor and stop drinking to help yourself out and become confident without it cause what you gonna do when your say in wal-mart you gonna carry a flask of jack daniels with you and gut buzzed before you approach? i doubt that

by eliminating drinking you can approach anywhere confidently

Me personally it doesn't matter.. although I have two different styles of games depending on if I'm sober or not, they still both get the job done.. but to answer your question do the top PUA's drink..? A lot of them don't.

You could use the liquid courage as training wheels, until you are comfortable and confident enough to do it completely sober. I wouldn't have too much though; in my case, 3 beers is enough for me to be relaxed in most social situations, without being drunk.

Having a few drinks isn't all that bad, just know your limits. I wouldn't drink with the intentions of "ohh man, I need to smash this AA", but have a few brews with your bros or whoever you are with because you want to and have a good time out there.

Then, when you feel like you are good to go [but not drunk], go out and sarge and have fun with it. I think generally, but not with everyone, drinking too much can make your game sloppy, especially if you can't control yourself after having a certain amount of alcohol. You don't want to be that random drunk guy who was hitting on her all night, but you want to be that cool guy who had fun with her.

The top ones dont need to. i have a beer or two because I want to. I don't need to drink, though. But if I get smashed then I usually start coming onto girls anyways... So I win either way. Unless I don't get any girls

Most top "PUAS" I know conquer their AA by shutting down their emotions completely, so don't take that as a model. :)

IME, if you are drinking in order to quell your nerves, you are risking a problem. I drank a lot for over 20 years, and it all started as fun in school when I saw that it made it easier to have a good time. Towards the end, as the buzz got less fun and the hangover more pain, I found that I had to drink just in order to go out, rather than enjoying going out to have a drink.

Alcohol is wonderful. It can make us very happy. But if you are using it for medicine, it's gonna fuck things up. Alcohol is designed to take us from feeling good to feeling better, not to take you from feeling nervous to calm. If you're feeling that nervous, you have to find a way to address it without booze.

Personally, I find it means what I always knew. I prefer meeting girls in more laid-back places than bars and clubs. And because I was such a good, study drinker for so long, I cannot stand people who can't hold their booze, and bars and clubs are full of them.

You don't need to go to bars to meet girls. More girls are out in the daytime than at night. More girls go to coffee shops than bars. More girls go out to eat dinner than go out boozing.

I'm not telling anyone what to do. Just my experience. I wish I'd fixed my shit first, so I could have enjoyed my drinking more, instead of fucking it all up. Oh well. Still had some good times. :)

Drinking is very common when people feel anxious. Alcohol actually reduces anxiety so you can approach girls. However it also messes up your mind so although you can approach, you will probably talk rubbish and not control yourself.

I work with soooooooo many guys on this issue. How about instead of trying to get over the anxiety or forcing your way through it, how about removing anxiety from the situation?

Just image this, being able to talk to women without being anxious. Being able to talk to women (or anyone) without having to have a drink first. You can have all the confidence that you get with drinking, but without drinking!

There are lots of people who claim they can get you over your approach anxiety, but can they prove it. You can listen to interviews with past clients of mine at www.realworldhypnotherapy.com

I am offering January sale prices of just £50 a session. I can help you more in 1-2 sessions than you can achieve by yourself in years of self help. The most common thing people say to say to me is that they wish they can come to see me sooner.

If you want to make real progress, then I am here to help you. I am based in Manchester UK and you can email me at matt at realworldhypnotherapy dot com
