Too true!
I hit the town again last night (I didn't get wasted on NYE o_O), even though the bars were a little empty due to hang overs.
Despite that, the one down the road, well outside of town, was not quite as empty as expected. I made friends with the entire bar! I met some really awesome people - even a couple of aPUA's. With just a few exceptions, people were coming from all parts of the bar to sit near where I was, as opposed to being scattered in their 1-3 person groups.
I'm definitely not used to being the social center of anything. I had to remember some of the stuff I was reading in my conversational self-help book, and limit the amount that I was speaking so everyone else wouldn't feel like I was monopolizing. Though, when
other people started monopolizing the conversation, I could easily turn to someone and say, "What do you think about that?" and the whole group's attention would shift. It was a little scary how much power I had.
I had to excuse myself to run grab something to eat because I hadn't eaten all day, and the group started dispersing. I came back because I had forgotten my tab, and EVERYONE had left!
(For the record, I know that there's a million reasons the bar could've cleared out 2 hours before closing. I'll let myself believe that I was the center of it though.
