Nope. No funniness. You do Apocalypse completely deadpan. It's not a joke. It's not done with a sense of humor. It is a serious offer.
No cockiness, either. You have to realize that you aren't transgressing any boundaries by doing it, and you must ACT as though you aren't transgressing any boundaries. What you're doing is not "cocky." It's just one hundred percent NORMAL. You're offering the girl a night at your place the same way that you'd offer her some chips or something. Like, "hey, would you like a chip?" And if she says no, you react as you would if she had said no to the chips. Just shrug and say "okay." Totally normal.
As for the congruence test that follows, play it totally straight. No cockiness, no funniness. YES, you really are serious about taking the girl home, NO, you aren't joking about it, and it's okay if she says no. Maintain that TOTALLY CASUAL state and you've passed the congruence test.
That's what a congruence test really is, by the way. The girl is trying to break your state. She wants to see how strong your frame is, so she'll do something messed up to see how you'll respond. The verbal component of your response is nowhere near as important as the nonverbal component. If you react emotionally (meaning if your state changes in response to what the girl does) then you fail. If your state doesn't change and you aren't affected by what she says, you pass.
It took me a while to realize that CF is not an all-purpose response to a congruence test. If you're
already doing it, then it's cool. You're maintaining your state, like you should. But after I dropped most of the C from my game, bringing it in to respond to a congruence test would be a bad idea because I'd demonstrate that the girl had affected my state. That would mean I'd failed the congruence test.
I failed the congruence test because the girl I did that to told me that she would go home with me if I remembered her name from earlier in the night. I didn't. She wanted to see if I cared about her enough to even remember her name. Unfortunately for me, I was drunk and forgot her name, and I let that fact affect my state, so I was like, "FUCK!" So I left with just a number.
And I got the number because what I did was ballsy as FUCK. That was the DHV component. Any further DHV attempts would have been obviously tryhard.
