You kind of have to setup your place in advance. There is a good video on youtube of Lovedrop making over this guys place. I encourage you to watch the video to get some ideas. But here are a few things I'll point out.
Computers - have them sitting on and leave them on if possible. People seem to gravitate towards them when they come in. I leave my laptop on my coffee table personally.
Bar - If you can take the time to stock it up properly it's a good thing. It's hard to tell in the picture but the neon light in my place says "bar." I just improvised a spot in my place to put it. It's great to be able to offer to make her favorite drink.
Xbox / Playstion - Leave it in a spot it can be seen as many girls like to play these things.
Common theme - in my place I have movie posters up along with autographs from my favorite actors. I show the girl these throughout my place. Or I use to before my gf. You can see what I mean in the pics below. BTW, I bought a brown slip cover for that old couch now and an area rug.
Rugs - I can't say enough about them. Get one that is furry or just comfy looking. Like lovedrop says she comes in and just wants to take her shoes off. Getting her shoes off is the first step to getting her closer to...you get the idea.
I loaded the video so you can see what I saw. I'm not saying my place is great because it needs a lot of work still but it's much better now.

Toward the very end he talks about keeping things stocked in your place. A few things make sure you keep medicine, tampons, condoms, extra toothbrushes, toothpaste, floss, contact solution, good shampoo, and conditioner, etc.
These are things that women need to sleep over some place, and it's very thoughtful if you have it already. You can explain it away easily that you have all kinds of friends that stay with you. Don't ruin your chances for a lay or her staying the night because you don't have some of the stuff above and it hurts the moment.
