Last night was my buddy’s birthday so we decided to go downtown and celebrate at Circa. There were 4 of us, but we separated in to 2 groups of 2 and tried to avoid standing around as a group of 4 guys for too long.

Myself, Squeeze, and my buddy, Nugz, checked out the club as a pair. With me being his wing. I opened a 5 set of 2 girls (HB7 and HB8) and 3 guys with the “does my friend look gay” opener. It was successful and the girls immediately began complementing him and giving him IOIs. The HB8 immediately walked towards him and began caressing him. I separated the HB7 and the 3 guys so that Nugz could isolate the HB8 and begin talking to her (this was his target). I kept the 4 set preoccupied with some stories, while asking how everyone knew each other. Apparently the guys were also trying to pick up these chicks and they didn’t know them previously. So we were walking in on their already opened set. One of the guys, Craig, kept trying to leave so he could interrupt Nugz and his target. I kept trying to bring him back into my conversations by initiating more conversation with him, which began to drive the HB7 I was talking to nuts because she wanted me to focus my attention on her. Any suggestions on juggling a whole group of people who were previously interested in your buddy’s target or even your target? I clearly was the AMOG because everyone was focused on me but Craig just didn’t seem to want to let up. I successfully brought Craig back to our conversation but by the end of it I felt I was acting a bit desperate with trying to keep him there. Saying crap like, “Craig man, where you going?” I’m guessing Craig was previously trying to talk to the HB8 while the other guys were interested in the HB7 and that’s why they stuck with me and he kept leaving. Nugz didn’t end up getting a number-close. The HB8 said she had a boyfriend, but we still hung out for a bit with the set and ended up meeting some cool guys from the UK who invited us to their place in London if we’re ever visiting. I ended up getting one of the guy’s emails – not what I was looking for but thus I began trying to build social proof. Me and Nugz kindly left the set and as soon as we left so did the two girls. I was hoping to see them again later in the night and perhaps reopen.

I'd love some criticism on how I could have winged Nugz a little better. I felt that his lack of a number close was possibly something that I had done. Not to mention I got so caught up in trying to keep him and his target isolated that I didn't even bother to pick up the HB7.

Don't draw three guys that aren't part of the group into the conversation. Maybe you should have directed most of your conversation towards the HB. The guys would have no reason to stick around. If they tried to bust up Nugzz set they would seem desperate.
