So I figure being Christmas time, going to the mall will be prefect sarging time.

I have a few idea planned out in my head, just need a good way to # close.

Here's my plan.

Find a 2+ set in a store thats stationary (not moving around too much) and say over my shoulder, "Hey, Quick question... I can't stay too long, but I have a 17 yr old sister, any ideas for a good present?"

Get talking a bit, if I'm getting IOI's I'm gonna want to # close because I already gave her a FTC. Just not sure of how I could throw it out there. Not a huge fan of saying "Hey give me your number"

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I wouldn't put in the "I can't stay too long." Think about it. Makes no sense to say it in this situation. That's good in a social scene, with friends around, or if you're at the park or soemthing and need to watch your little sister. Just go with the original line and leave out the time constraint. It's understood that you're shopping.

Open and then after you get your question answered, just continue the conversation. You're not definitely (you might tho) going to get it the first time, but go with the flow and work on it. I'm working on this now.

I disagree with Bronco; I'm a big fan of the False Time Constraint. If you start practicing the FTC not only on girls, but on everyone, you will notice that almost of your conversations will become much more relaxed and fun. A lot of conversations in life are mostly done out of politeness, so by providing an easy exit, both parties are more likely be open with each other.

The FTC is primarily meant to be used as a comfort building tool, not a DHV like some people think it is.

Anyways, you strategy you could use to number close is called a time bridge. Before you number close, you want to establish mutual interest in some place or activity. When it is time to number close, you do it by simply inviting her to that place or activity you talked about.
