Could you give the obstacle a complement while your DHVing? If so, does complimenting the obstacle count as a minor neg to the target? I was thinking yes because she will feel like she has lower value to you.

I don't see anything wrong with this. I was out last week and after doing the guess a number routine on my target, I turned to the obstacle to do a palm reading. The obstacle was going to have multiple kids according to her palm (like anyone really believes any of that stuff anyway). The target demanded that I read her palm. I did and it showed she was only going to have one kid which made her kind of upset because she was determined that she was going to have 3. It wasn't really a compliment to the obstacle, but the way she took it definetly made her feel inferior. I told her that she just needed to find someone that had more lines on their palm for children which made her look at mine.

Bottom line, I don't see how this could backfire, as long as it wasn't something that was downright rude to the target, might even force her to qualify herself.
