I'm brand new to the game and have been reading as much as I can get my hands on when I'm not reading for work. Particularly wanting to look at IOIs and openers to be able to take advantage of proximity alerts if they occur. Here's my report on a number close I got earlier this evening on the train home.

I noticed the arab HB7.5 when we got on the train and hadn't really intended to run game (I was coming home from a date). As the train emptied out along the route I began to notice her behaviour and wondered if they were IOIs.
1. Was standing near me in an empty train.
2. Looking everywhere but at me - infact reading the label on her empty coffee cup.
3. Eventually sat in the seat next to me.

I thought - IOIs? So I took off my ipod and began trying to think of an opener. Something natural. Based on the situation and a comon interest (bored on the train).
"I hate it when I'm on the train and there's nothing to read" I said smiling
"Yeah It's awkward!" she says to me back.

I poked fun at her reading her cup and we chatted fluff (work, uni,)
I asked her name but didn't tell her mine. She asked (IOI?). When it came to her stop, we were joking and chatting so I just siad "Can I get your number?" and pulled out my phone. "Sure" she said.

I lost some of my cool and before she stepped off the train said "want to go out for a drink some time?" (Shit, just stamp AFC on my forehead!). I had lost my cool and was thinking - dude what if she thinks i want to hang as friends? She smiled slightly condiscendingly and then said "you have my number".

I sent her a text and wanted to sound slightly cool so I wrote "Hey here's my number! Avoid thinking about work... I heardit's bad for u! " She wrote back.

Analysis

(please let me know if you agree/disagree it's all constructive to me)

1. Recognition of IOIs okay.
2. Opener in juggler style (statements - not questions)
3. mid game weak (don't know any routines - YET.)
4. Number close = weak.
5. Last comment was a learning point. If she's given you her number she's interested in speaking with you again.
