Don't make your stories epic battles b/w good or evil. Simply b/c you don't have to. It'll seem like your trying too hard and won't leave you as the focus of the conversation. Put some humanity in there and express some emotion while your telling it. Also, try and talk with your hands.

you read some social-fucking-dynamics. Read the game etc.

When you understand the basics, you understand how to do it. You then consciously think of it every second while telling a new story. You talk in a good pace, you talk loud, you structure the story in your head on the fly.

When you can tell a story, then you learn how to cram it with DHV-spikes. How you lead men, how women likes you. Then you can add some teasing and enable the audience to give you feedback.

One step at a time.

Be self-deprecating, able to laugh at your own mistakes within the story even if you do come out well in the end.

have energy when you tell it, you must be interested in what you're talking about if anyone else is to be excited as well.

The little details, sometimes the best parts of the story are the little details. Consult "Reservoir Dogs" for the detectives on the rooftop scene.

Live a full, adventurous life. Have fun.

Hope this helps.

Peace.

Pauses, look upwards, hand motions, loud voices, absurd body movements (headbutting is fucking gold), accents

Don't tell a story for the sake of telling it. YOU've gotta believe that its worth retelling, otherwise people will sense your lack of enthusiasm and it will come off as tryhard.

Like Chinaski said, you've gotta be loud, confident, and enthusiastic. remember to continue projecting this even if they don't look like they're interested at first. a lot of times you can just power through their indifference and suck them into your world. when that does happen, its on.

Remember that girls are more responsive to feelings... Instead to describe the size of a bear describe how it made you feel... Get my point?

Another universal story-telling principle - and this goes beyond DHV stories - is that you have to be able to make the story relate to the listener. Ezo's point above about talking more about feelings or emotional reactions is exactly meant to do that. I like relate my story to things I may know about the girl and/or set, or even ask questions that can help draw her in to it. You ultimately want her thinking "yeah, I had that exact same thing happen!" or "I can totally imagine how crazy that would be!". That's not to say you can't talk about "guy" stuff, but just make sure that she can latch on to at least a part of the story. As for the way you tell it, the posts above capture it really well: be enthusiastic, use lots of gestures, and make sure that it's actually about something she'll find interesting!

This is money doesnt matter if your telling stories to girls or guys. even pointless details are good.

Going off on "side-notes can be good as long as you make it a funny side note and dont take too long to get back to the story"
