I never thought how a good story could come into play later for the target. That's some good insight. Thanks!
My story so far has been, I was trying to save people in a car accident, the windows blew and shards of glass flew into my face. I don't know how believable that is though (cause the scars are actually from acne, and they probably look it). Plus, I haven't really used that on adults or women (never really had the opportunity)--mostly children, cause they definitely will ask, in front of others no less.

The best way to go about it would be to follow these steps.
First and foremost, how did you get those scars? (you got them fighting a shark, saving your ex-girlfriend from a mugger, battling a giant killer ninja)
Come up with a real good story as to where you got them from, don't go way over the top, but because there physically there, you have "proof" that the story your telling happened.
If you set them in a solid light, when her friends ask "what happened to him" on a day two. Your Target can reply " A guy was trying to rob his ex-girlfriend, and he stepped in to save the day" Your targets pier group will actually look up to you.
Finally, and this is a big one. Never blame a bad set on your scars. That is crucial, if you get into a negative state about them, you'll start to obsess, and it'll drag your game, and you, down.
hope that helps.
