Okay guys,
I have searched high and low for things both DeAngelo and Strauss wrote about going on dates, buying drinks/dinner/ etc., and I must be blind because I can't find it! I have a date tonight (first one) with a girl whose number I got last Friday in a bar and I can't remember the proper PUA approach when it comes to buying coffee or whatever. All I remember is something about NOT buying, but what line do I give about not picking up the tab?

I was thinking about doing one of those relocation things, maybe something like: "How about I buy you coffee here, then we relocate somewhere else and you buy me dinner?" Or vice versa. I don't know. I am so new to this. Can anyone give me some quick pointers? This date is tonight! Yikes!

I'm not sure if this is coming fast enough for you, but here's the skinny.

Both David D and Style say that you should avoid paying for drinks. For coffee, however, things are a little different. If you don't pick up a $10 tab, she's going to think you're cheap.

So you had the right idea. "I'll pick this one up, but you're going to have to repay me somehow. I accept flowers, poetry and sexual favors (I'm a bit high-maintenance...)."

actually it came JUST in time because my date is about 45 minutes away. Thanks a lot!

After this, though, I've got to post another question I have because there are some things I have yet to mention on this board. It involves my own personal goals regarding PUA skills and the reasons why I have those goals in mind. Long story...hard to be mysterious about. I will post later for advice. Believe me, I don't mean to sound arrogant but it might be something that will stump ALL of you.

Well so much for THAT. Just got a text message saying she had to cancel, got called in to work, asking if we could meet tomorrow. I think I should say "yeah if you buy me dinner afterward."

I don't stump easily.

I wouldn't go with "Alright but you need to buy me dinner after."

You: I can't tomorrow. I was thinking about going out to this cute little restaurant I found in the paper on Saturday though. If you think you can avoid ditching me (for something as boring as WORK no less), you can come along.

Don't let her schedule determine your life. You have shit to do, man. Don't go re-scheduling your shit just because she flaked on you.
