this is an old article I wrote a while back. not sure if i've ever posted it on here for you guys, so here it is:

Approach Anxiety is something that plagues many men as the first get into PU. Unfotunately, there is no easy way to overcome AA because is completely, 100% self-inflicted. AA is the conscience result of over-anylisation. When you are in the field and you assess a target and you begin to over analyze, the first things that will come into your brain are all the possible ways you can fail. Now, the secret to becoming a mPUA isnt by closing every single girl you open, no one can do that, not even your gurus. The secret is being able to accept failure. And, more specificly, the secrect to doing so can make or break you. If you suffer from AA, and you open a set with the mindset that you will fail, you will fail. and fast. However if you open a set with complete self-confidence, yet putting the thought into your head that you will not succede for w/e, failure wont bother you, and success will only seem sweeter. the trick is to not let failure upset you. if the failure or the fear of it plauges you, this mindset wont work because you will fallow the path you set for yourself. if you accept failure, but ignore it, you cant lose.

now AA comes from self-consciencness. you are so afraid of what people think of you that it prevents you from accomplishing anything. This is not a healthy way to live, PU and otherwise. The most successfull PUAs have the ablility to laugh at themselfs. to make fun of themselfs. because when you are so completely confident in yourself that you can point out your own flaws and laugh at them, doing so will only minimize the amount that your audience cares about those flaws. Now I suggest getting Rules of the Game to help get over your insecurity. It's a slow, but powerfull process that, if you complete it, you will never have anything to fear again.
