Okay, I'm only a nub to this as well BUT a work mate of mine is a bit of a gun and he said the way he started was he went for lower chicks to begin with, like 5/6/7's then once he had his game down with them he moved on up to the 8/9's. I'm gonna start to do that as well (though I dont like lowering my standards, we all have to start somewhere).

It's a little hard getting over AA at first. Confidence is key, remember... YOU ARE THE SHIT. Believe that and it will radiate off of you.

having an opener ready to use has worked for me, Ialso force myself to open a few times then I'm in mood and it gets much easier.
I feel more confident if I'm wearing something unique, I ask for their opinion on it and go into a routine.
Sometimes I learn a magic trick or something and ask them to be mypublic, they never refuse. I think that if you are having fun and you share the source of the funny thing (confusing?) they'll let you.
Once you are in a set it's much easier to open a set that's nearby.

SirBonks alot and Krylon say it very well read their replies. Now...my own 2 cents...when I have AA I usually have the following internal dialogue with myself. "I can't do it" followed by " you are a fucking puss if you don't go open her right now" Believe it or not for MY personal psychology speaking this way to myself is just what I need. Kind of like when Marty McFly hears the word "chicken" and just can't seem to let it go.

Finally stop thinking of opening as something you do with HBs. Start opening everyone and I mean everyone. Open your mailman the lady at the cleaners. A senior citizen. Just get into the habit of making friends of strangers. Who knows maybe the senior citizen will introduce you to his hot grandaughter or the lady at the cleaners dances salsa and knows this place where it's hot! If you open everyone then HB10s are just part of the group called everyone.
