So I negged a group of girls about how quickly they changed out of their formal clothes and they were like, yeah first thing we got home. And I said: "What! You don't want to stay and look pretty a little longer?". One girl said :"So you're saying we're not pretty?" And I was kind of stuck on what to say probably was going to end up saying "maybe" but the friend I was with spoke first and said that "i didn't say it, he said it". Then we left.

What do I say for anything like that? So you're saying we're not pretty, you're saying we're fat, saying we're not fashionable? Is that a sign of a failed neg or just low self esteem?

Which is why I think next time I'll just say, "Whoa you have a self-esteem problem too!"

That's a tricky one, maybe follow that with a compliment, if a girl has low self esteem then negging her probably isn't such a good idea.

To me I think you gave up a compliment to freely. I would've said something to the extent of "It's about time you guys dressed up to hang out with me. I was beginning to think you didn't think I was worth it." This would take away the shit test response you got and it would take them out of their game, leaving you controlling the situation once again. But hindsight is always 20/20 so who knows

Anyways, we did not hang out when they were dressed up, we just all had a event that required that (to clarify!). Thus I barely met them, so I should've been a little less neg probably.
