They just have to be there. Bring them along!

Oh! and they can distract other people in the set whilst you talk to your target

YOU should open the set. they are just there to disarm the men and higher your value to the women.

I've tried it once, but my girlfriends were clueless as to what to do. The other guys, however, are right. They can build your social proof by them only being in your presence, and if you engage your friends in conversations but do it so you do most of the talking while they listen with keen interest then this alone can attract the eyes of women.

Not only do you appear social hear, but you're leading the group, or girl, if just one girl. This automatically triggers attraction within women, and they don't even know.

But to answer your question, they'll need to be trained, or moderately schooled, before they can help you sarge. After all, they need to know WHAT to do so prep them before you guys go out if you know the basics of pickup or seduction.
