hey guys this is my first post cos i had a question about craigs list. i would recommend you all give it a look, its really pretty simple. unlike myspace or facebook, these are personal ads so its a bit more direct. only about 1 in 10 are hot though.

so i went on there last night and sent this opener to some girls:

"Is that your real hair or a wig?"
or
"Is that your real hair color? "

plus

"There are many pretty faces out there, what is your best personality trait?"

I combined two of the more common online approaches on here, a neg and a qualification.

well a few hours later this HB7 replied with a somewhat detailed response. however she did not respond directly to the two question i asked. here it is in entirety:
so obviously there is some interest there. i'm wondering if she interpreted my "is that your real hair color?" not as a neg, but something like "wow i really like your hair is that your real color?"

should i try to reframe here? something like "well you didnt answer either of my questions"... or is that even necessary since she's clearly interested?

however also i need to add i signed up for the stupid free trial on the singlesnet and search for her user ID and its not there! WTF i'm assuming she wanted to show more pics of herself plus maybe there's more info about her personality, etc.

any advice?

hah... How to respond? Don't.

You're talking to a bot that's spamming singlesnet. First clue: she didn't answer any of your questions. Second clue: she wants to take you to some site that isn't "normal", i.e. myspace, facebook, or chat like AIM, yahoo, etc.

Hope you didn't use a good email, you might get a lot of spam now.

for what it's worth, I've found that craigslist has a low signal to noise ratio. 75% is spam and bots. 20% is ugly chicks who don't post pictures. 5% is hot and real, but the chances of them replying is almost nil.

btw, start checking all the ads, not just the ones you're interested in. You'll start to see the same mannerisms, and even the same pictures for different people (well, bots). I've even seen ads that are like,

"I like INTEREST1 and INTEREST2. I'm looking for someone sensitive and cool, but not a mama's boy. I like listening to MUSIC1 and MUSIC2. If you want to hear more, you know what to do!"

you're totally right, now i feel like a complete idiot. looking at it now, i think the ads with one picture are often fake. if the person posts two, with a non generic ad, MAYBE she is real.

In my opinion Craigs List is good for everything but the personals.

ok finally a real one! i sent maybe 8-10 emails to different girls on craigs list and probably half responded as bots directing me to some bullshit website. lame.

but 1 real one finally responded. here are some clues as to why i think she's real. 1) her page had multiple pictures. not always a sure sign, cos some of the bots that responded had multiple pics, but for the most part it seems the bots are ads with short descriptions and 1 photo. and the responded quickly, within a few hours. 2) longer description, somewhat non-generic.

here' the third clue that she's real, and this is the best part. i was browsing the "women seeking women" section just to check out the lesbos, most are totally butch... they even say in their adds "looking for butch"... wtf? Anyways i find the same chick with the same 4 photos and a similar description...

so what to do now? she responded to my qualification but ignored the neg, oh well. one thing i did is when i sent a pic of myself, it was a 3 set with me, a guy, and a cute girl... so there's some social proof. maybe a better idea than just sending one pic of yourself.

so i wanna go out with her tonight or tomorrow (saturday). i was thinking of inviting her to get coffee at starbucks, and saying "if you play nice, i wanna go to the museum." dinner is lame and drinking isn't an option since she's 19. but i wanna do this in a non-AFC way. i'm a bit stumped because she didn't leave any direct response open... she's making me take the lead.

i was thinking of turning this around on her: her original ad said "looking for some arm candy" so how about "ok arm candy, let's meet at starbucks and if you play nice, go to the museum". but i need something in between... i have her email now but thats it. i guess what i need is her digits to text.

help me out! thanks in advance.

"Whoa whoa whoa... who said anything about friends? You need to slow down there. My last cyberstalker turned out to be a 62 year old guy. How am I supposed to know you're who you say you are?"
